So many beautiful experiences I have been through the last couple of weeks. From a beautiful gig in Lake Tahoe, to other crazy ones in LA, NY, San Diego and Austin. And then last week I had the privilege to play at the AfrikaBurn. A festival about 5 hours drive from Cape Town. I did two shows there. A sunset one and a pre-burn one. Both beautiful on its own. And when you hear the crowd scream: 'one more song, one more song' knowing that I already played 2 'more' songs....yes, then you know that they like what you do. That having said: I love bringing joy and happiness in your lives so the feeling is mutual! So straight from the heart another Deep & Sexy podcast for you guys. I have no words for the feeling that night at at Afrika Burn gave me. A deep gratitude overcame me when I realized what the dance floor had been evolving to during the set and a profund tribal feeling overcame me when I saw what is possible to create when people work together with a similar vision of creativity and love. The Spirit Train and Hauptbahnhof Crew are the people that brought me to AfrikaBurn for the first time last year, thank you millions of times for giving me that honor to perform again for you guys and the brilliant idea of connecting both sound systems together. I had again the best gig of my life (to me)at  the best party in the world I could ever have imagined.;) Thank you!!!

Ehm… Wooow wow and uffff…  Back home from Afrikaburn - that was something really really really special. I met so many lovely people and beautiful souls, made new friends, digital friends became real ones, discovered sweet and creative ideas at every corner, got surprised over and over again… Expectations were built up and broken down to experience something else and unexpected… And just when I thought I learned my lesson about having expectations about whatsoever or taking anything for "granted" I checked the recordings of the sets I played down there in the desert, to decide which one I would like to upload and share with you, I had to realize that I fucked it up and all of them have the shittiest recording quality ever… Hahahaha, ohhh man…  So what can you do? Well - I decided to figure out the playlist of my sunset-set at Everland and just record it once more here back home… Hope you'll enjoy it anyways…

Afrika Burn 2017.... well it is an adventure, an experience that you cannot describe. Words, photos, music or story telling can only give one a glimpse of what it is all about. You will often come across problems and issues but there is always a solution. I had the privilege of playing my music to a number of lovely camps and notably a big thanks to the Underpants Hotel and the Orient Art crew for having me on board twice at their awesome camp. Another big thanks to those who provided me with some lovely unreleased gems (notably the NieWiederSchlafen crew). I hope I did them justice :) 

Unfortunately I could not record any of the 5 sessions that I played so I have put together a selection of tunes that best described my way of DJ'ing out in the Tankwa desert, a progressive journey of slower grooves to some bad man deep tech grooves.

For the second year in a row, I was given the opportunity to stay with the ever-generous WO family.  That alone set things up to be an unforgettable week. My relationship with the guys has evolved at a healthy pace since the day we met just before BM 2015., and even though we do not see each other too often, we have grown fairly close.
This mix was recorded in the wee hours, from around 3 to 5 on Sunday morning. The evening leading up to the Man Burn was absolutely insane for me. It was just after sunset when my lover and I got stuck in the deep playa for a solid 90 minutes trying to find our way back to the Esplanade. I recall the sky getting really dark & stormy, feeling a couple of drops of rain and watching the wind pick up and throw dust into the air lowering our visibility by the second. I quickly realized we were not getting away from Mother Nature’s show. We jumped off our bicycles and embraced the situation, sat there for a moment to understand the storm was not stopping anytime soon. We then started pushing our bicycles struggling to even see our feet. I was holding my scarf around my head trying to protect my eyes, mouth and nose from getting filled up with dust. We were blind, and at the mercy of the elements.
Then . . . Something extremely strange happened out there. I remember us walking straight for so long and returning to the same point twice. It was like we had been walking around in circles. My level of confusion hit the red. Each art piece’s light in the dusty horizon would give me hope to have reached the destination. The struggle was real. It turned out to be one of the most memorable times of the week.
We eventually got back to the camp, unrecognizable, covered in white dust, looking 120 years old, exhausted. What an adventure! Our ordeal turned into one of the most memorable times of the week.
I passed out to wake up just before my set starting at 3am, following the Bedouin lads. To my surprise, the sky was clear again. I had managed to clean myself up and thought “great”, it’s going to be nice and calm out there . . . There was not one cloud in sight. I left my goggles and scarf behind and grabbed my USB sticks. I headed to the stage to watch the boys end their set to a packed dance floor. Whilst still in the process of waking, I jump on and guess what? Yes, another storm hit, a few minutes into my set. That’s it. I can’t see anything anymore, barely even the CD players, and of course, I don’t have my goggles. The wildness of the vista before me combined with my struggle made this experience truly magical in its own ways. The energy that surrounds you in such a situation is indescribable. It almost feels like time stops. Those of you who were there will remember, and those who weren’t, here is your opportunity to join in on my dusty journey at WO.

Teenage Mutants sets sail in a new journey into deep tech, shaping up a mosaic comprising of five original tracks.

Palais kicks off proceedings with a revving lead and ascending melody. The journey theme becomes evident from the outset, as the track marches along, gradually building up into an upbeat construction. Dub vibes aplenty come about in Couer, as tribal drums create a heavy-hitting yet pensive start. Anchored in sweeping synths and subtle elements, the percussion remains prominent throughout the cut, making it a great dancefloor weapon. 

Concorde, a term near-synonymous with aircrafts, one of three collaboration tracks with newcomer Heerhorst. It swiftly unveils dark and brooding atmospheres. With the help of an initial heavy kick drum doubled by percussive elements and an electricity-tinged lead, it conveys an intense ambiance. A male vocal chanting French lyrics kicks in, ultimately unveiling the reason for the overall morose mood: it’s all centered around love. Opera is a string-heavy arrangement where distorted loops reign supreme. Yet another slice of melancholy in the form of a moody lead makes its presence, instilling tension and dynamism. Breaking out into an array of synths at peak time, confusion intertwines with darkness, mixing together in the end. Jour plays upon a parallel sequence of loops, garnering complementary tones in a constant zig-zagging motion. Strobing noises and hellish melodies occupy opposing corners, mediated by a playful bassline.

Now into its 15th year, Get Physical continues to lead from the front with the fifth instalment in its ‘Words Don't Come Easy’ compilation series.
Once again packing a punch across 20 tracks, it arrives with two continuous mixes filled with fantastic artists old and new. There are many exclusives along the way from Cord Labuhn & Jansen, M.A.N.D.Y., Dakar, Noema, Sophia Saze, Ryan Murgatroyd and Mâhfoud & Javier Orduna and they all add up to one great listen.
The excellent first mix kicks off with Deetron’s recent and most essential remix of one of Get Physical’s new shining stars, aka South African artist Jazzuelle. It’s a sensual neo-soul track that sets a fine mood. From there, Nico Stojan feat. JAW slips us into a warm deep house groove, the in-demand Bedouin offer piano laden and lazy vibes and Konstantin Sibold's Alternative Remix of WhoMadeWho picks up the pace with a more driven house style.
One of the standout offerings is ‘The Clown’ from Thor Rixon, which will be released as a new single on July 7th with remixes from Few Nolder & Lord Of the Isles. The moody and atmospheric track is a vocal laced deep house roller and has its own emotional video filmed by Rob Wisniewski in Berlin, which is to be released soon.
These are as much songs as they are tracks because of the rich musical vibes and romantic chords that drape over the drums through tracks from Robosonic and then a more prickly and dehumanised tech offering from M.A.N.D.Y.
The moodiness then dissipates with the super slow motion churns of Mâhfoud & Javier Ordun’s ‘Secrets’ while the man behind Get Physical’s other recent mix, Ben Hoo, shines once more with his organic and tender passage of ambiance.
Elsewhere, a 2017 edit of Dakar’s I’ve Got That Feeling’ goes straight for the dance floor, M.A.N.D.Y. make a second appearance with their spooky broken beat offering, and Jazzuelle also returns with his gorgeously pained and downbeat ‘Relativity’ before he starts to close things down with a slick remix of DJ Pierre. Last of all, Climbers leave us on a high with the shimmering and reflective, beachy house of ‘Driving.’
This is a diverse yet coherent collection of tracks that show that Get Physical has never been more brilliantly eclectic in its offerings.
