As a missionary in Peru, this tune repeatedly came to my head for days at a time. In my free time i worked on getting it from my mind on to the keys of a piano. After one year in to my mission and i realizing that our mission hymn was not being sung, i decided to turn this tune into a hymn dedicated to my mission. I imagined in my head drums and bagpipes and the voices of missionaries singing in unison the words "Los nortenos avanzad!" I finally got the song down on paper, presented it to my mission president and with the help of other missionaries sang it for the first time in front of the missionaries of Lima Norte. It was approved by the president and became the new mission hymn. Due to the lack of bagpipes and snare drums on my mission i never really created the song exactly the way i had imagined it in my head. Now almost 2 years later i have been able to create the music i heard in my head so many years ago. I want to dedicate it to President Blunck and his sweet wife who made my mission experience one that i will never forget.
