Layton Giordani steps up for his first solo EP of 2018.

In terms of pedigrees, it doesn’t get finer than Layton Giordani. The Brooklyn-born DJ/producer followed up his lauded debut album of 2017, with a collaboration with Danny Tenaglia to close out the year and marked the summer of 2018 with a three-way collaboration with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet, ‘Space Date’. The period has been a big one for Layton personally, also. From humble beginnings in his native NYC as an Output resident, to being thrust into the bustle of the European club and festival circuit, he’s enjoyed a stint living in Amsterdam, growing and developing over this time. All these experiences have had a fundamental influence on him and his music. The four-track EP ‘Phase II’ represents a new chapter for this exciting talent.

Beginning with ‘New York to Amsterdam’, a track that draws inspiration from a classic by Yves Deruyter, Layton’s work packs a memorable punch as tough acidic undertones and brain scrambling synth effects undulate raising the intensity, making it a perfect opener for Adam Beyer when he played Berghain earlier this year. ‘Body Language’ follows, a track written when Layton was scrubbed out of touring for a month courtesy of a shattered elbow from a skating accident. Not wasting the downtime, he’s crafted a cut that’s sleek, sexy and smart, with a seductive vocal and rousing melodic riff that runs throughout. ‘Black Mirror’, stays true to its dystopic name, a stomping rave cut that pummels dancefloors with a menacing lead synth that’s purpose built for the cold months ahead. ‘Enter the Stratosphere’ is steely electro-tinged techno paired with atmospheric licks of melody, awhile maintaining the artist’s trademark low-end chug. A classy conclusion to an EP from one of techno’s brightest talents.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

We at LPR, are happy to accommodate this debut release in the Lost Project’s family, and all the way from Peru too!

Continuing an already bustling 2020, that has seen him release on Relief Records and Glasgow Underground, Italian-talent Adapter makes an exciting debut on Hot Creations this November with ​Skate Dancer​. The two-track EP includes a special remix from contemporary house heavyweight, Patrick Topping.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the release, Adapter describes how he is “​a big fan of the eighties, so Skate Dancer is a mix of bass, vocals and rhythms that take me back to that era.​”
We’re graced with that feel-good eighties touch from the offset, as groovy female vocals shimmer amidst a pumping, 4x4 bassline on ​Skate Dancer​. Sampling Doug Willis’ seminal 2000 track of the same name, the disco-inspired cut strikes the perfect balance between age-old funk rhythm and modern house swing, before Patrick Topping’s remix takes on a darker, techno-leaning tone with hard-hitting kick-hat combos and punchy, no-nonsense percussion.
Naples-based ​Adapter has experienced a meteoric rise in a career that has spanned multiple years. Releases on some of the genre’s most well-loved labels, including Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records and Green Velvet’s Relief, have cemented his status as one of the scene’s true heavy-hitters.
