Skrika presents us his first album on Cryo Chamber, a tour de force of cinematic sound design and dark brooding soundscapes.

Fifth Nature is the first of a series of albums set in the far distant future. Over centuries, failed technological attempts to restore balance to the Earth have left it blackened and its ecosystems fragile. Its population is divided between the Lemmites who think that further synthetic biological intervention is the answer, and the Atom Priesthood who worship the purity of nature.

As storms rage around her, Cerria, a synbio necromancer communes with spirits to foretell Earth’s fate. Meanwhile, the high priest Atom-Yn sings of the blood moon tetrad and the end of days.

Gradually the vast network of machines that purify the atmosphere and enable life to continue on Earth grind to a halt. Desolation grips both Cerria and Atom-Yn as they try to save their followers. What ensues is the seventh extinction event, one in which both human and all remaining life comes under threat. Unable to survive on Earth any longer, Cerria and Atom-Yn reconcile and with a few brave souls take flight into the further most reaches of space seeking new planets to inhabit.

You are part of a creative team crafting a captivating composition. The goal is to create something remarkable, pushing boundaries and embracing new perspectives. 

There is this one guy, Keith, a team member, who brings that unexpected and unusual idea and takes charge of the remaining tasks. 

Initially, his unconventional beat concept causes skepticism but it holds potential to transform the composition. As the composition progresses, the bass aligns miraculously with Keith's concept, solidifying the team's chosen path. 

Despite uncertainty, Keith showcases the influence of drummers in shaping the composition's vibe. His unique perspective adds intrigue and captures everyone's attention. 

One moment occurs when Keith drops the beat entirely, relying on percussion accents and poly-rhythmic whisperings.  This risky move exemplifies his willingness to push boundaries. 

Keith's persistence and creativity pay off as the composition, named "Nag Champa," emerges as distinctive and innovative. 

This journey teaches the power of thinking beyond expectations for extraordinary artistic achievements.

Behind the song, Nag Champa was inspired by the renowned incense of the same name. It happened to be burning during the creative process, creating an atmospheric and sensory backdrop for the song's birth. 

The name holds significance, as Nag Champa incense is cherished for its captivating aroma that transports one to a tranquil and introspective state. Similarly, the song Nag Champa aims to transport listeners to a unique musical realm, evoking feelings of transcendence and exploration.

I often have dreams about traveling back in time to the days when I was a kid. Sometimes, I'm aware I'm dreaming, sometimes I'm not. Each time I can remember everything vividly. People's faces, the texture of objects, everything. Sometimes I can even remember toys or clothes I had as a kid, but forgot about in waking life.
The last time I was wondering if I would stay in that dream If I could.
The answer, of course is no. I still have a job to do here - make more music :)))
The past is the past. There's nothing left to gain from it, but inspiration.

"The system seems nominal, no data across the array shows any sign of corruption" said Naomi. Her voice broke the oppressive silence of the ocean floor. Sound traveled much better in water, much further, yet down here the only things audible were the occasional whale call, and geologic activity. Darkness swallowed her headlamp, only illuminating the scant flakes of marine snow a few feet in front of her. Looking up, she flipped to infrared and saw dim silhouettes in the distance undulating. Waiting. She felt more comfortable in the dark and tried not to think too hard about the isolating nature of deep ocean trenches.

"That's good" Kai replied, validating the sister vault. His diagnostic progress was passing 47%. "Less for us to do. I'd rather not be down here longer than necessary. Let's collect our samples then be on our way".

A small stream of silvery liquid had collected in a small depression below the data vaults. It flowed down from the basalt walls of the continental shelf with a powerful slowness that dragged the otherwise motionless water into a weak current. "Don't you think we should find the source?" Naomi's gaze followed the stream as it disappeared into the dark. "Whoever this belongs to would probably like to know, especially if it could avoid another expedition down here. You don't store something in an ocean trench if you want people knowing about it, and you for sure want the peace of mind that nothing will damage it". 

"Our instructions were to verify the integrity of the vault and the data it houses, we've done that" Kai's diagnostic ticked to 100% "and now we can go home, where the probability of me getting crushed by an ocean's worth of water goes back to what it should be."

Naomi walked alongside the stream, ascending the several meters to where sand met rock, each step dislodging sand. The break in the cliff face framed her shoulders, just wide enough for her to enter. "Careful over there, I have you on FLIR but you're too far. We should leave and get it analyzed", Kai warned. "I'll be fine, it seems to be denser than water. Anyway, I want to get a sample as close to the source as possible". Kai begrudgingly stored a few milliliters in a compartment on the side of his calf, and propelled himself towards the silhouette of Naomi's suit.

Was seeing Jeroen Tel and Matt Gray remaking their old C64 tunes, as well as some Galway remakes from Gray, which I all love btw.

I already had this 'Mr Nord' setup lying around from previous track, so I just couldn't resist and try to recreate the magic from Martin Galway's Parallax title screen epic for myself.

I tried to stay true to the original as much as possible. Even play the original in the intro and outro as a backing track. But almost all elements are recreated on the Nord Lead 2x, as well as some additions and tricks from the Easily Embarrassed library to make it more of a 2015 worthy track.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The goal of Isydia (ih-city-uh) is to deliver deep, intricate, narrative driven sci-fi music. Immerse yourself in beautifully cold soundscapes layered with  mysterious melodic lines and disjoint percussive samples. Each track tells a story, what will you hear?

Inspirations are wide ranging, but center around Captain Panic! & Systek's 'Monolith' album and the Dune Saga by Frank Herbert.
