Mark Guillaudeu's career in wine began at Glen's Garden Market in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.. Fresh from a Master's program in Buddhist Studies, an entry-level position as a cashier quickly became a management role assisting with the beer, wine, and coffee programs at the all-local, all-organic market. Focusing exclusively on the wines of the Midatlantic and New England, Mark soon left Glen's to pursue the opportunity to sell the great wines of the wide world. Sommelier roles followed at mom-and-pop's, upscale, and steakhouse concepts in D.C. before, the eve after his final WSET Diploma exam, Mark packed the last of his belongings and set off to California. Mark managed the wine and cocktail programs at Commis in Oakland for five years, earning accolades for both programs while balancing studies in the Master of Wine program with competitive successes culminating in the title of Best Sommelier USA in June of 2022. In February of 2023 he became the first American semi-finalist at the Concours Mondiale and earned his Master Sommelier Diploma on September 6, 2023. Since March of 2023 Mark has worked with the award-winning cellar of the historic Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix, Arizona.

The history of the Terre D'Aione winery is a family history. The business has been handed down among the Carpenitos for six generations and still today they are involved with great passion and dedication in the production of excellent wines , carefully selecting the finest grapes grown directly in their vineyards.

The Carpenitos are a family of winemakers who have been looking after and cultivating the land for over 150 years to give life to fine wines. With the Terre D'Aione company they continue to hand down this tradition from generation to generation and above all the great love for the Tufo hills and all of Irpinia. 

For years, Terra D’Aione specialized in the production of Campania wines, 6 types (3 DOCG and 3 IGT) and a Greco di Tufo DOCG grappa. They are located in the San Paolo hamlet, in Tufo (AV). With 12 hectares of vineyards, many of which are located close to the sulfur mines, an ideal place for growing grapes.

The winery was founded a long time ago by Luigi Sgarzi in the 1933, around its country house vineyards from which he was making wines for local restaurants then he started a cooperation with some wineries in Abruzzo and there comes the company name, Cantine Sgarzi Luigi (Cantine means wineries). Nearly 20 yo his nephew, Stefano joined his grandfather in the wine making and this was the great beginning of the CEO Mr. Stefano Sgarzi. With a long time vision, he started to make wine and to sell it bulk in the national market. After a few years, he married Nadia. Nadia has been the key for the turning the export markets. with the marketing appeal of Stefano and his knowledge of the wine business, plus the cleverness and multi-languages spoken by Nadia. The company started to sell all kind of wines to European country and at the beginning of 90's began the first connection with Asia and China, then other countries. They attended all wine fairs all over the world getting in contacts with buyers importers, knowing their competitors and countries trends & cultures.

More about today’s winery:
The core of our company’s philosophy is commitment to the landscape; we are only guardians of Nature and must act to preserve and respect the land with decision making in accordance with the season. We cultivate or cover crop according to the vigour of the vines, we manage with a focus on soil heath, we use sulphur and copper in response to the weather and we adapt canopy heights according to the natural shoot growth. To achieve this, we improved old vineyards and established new ones with traditional vine densities of 8,000 to 11,000 vines per hectare. We source the cuttings for new vineyards exclusively from our old vines (over 100 years old). Our yields are less than 1 kg/vine and we have achieved a vine balance that highlights the characteristics of the land. Organic fertilisers, green manure, low amounts of copper and the use of herbal teas based on horsetail and nettle, all contribute to make our vines the core of our production process.

Matt Irwin grew up in Brisbane  Australia and graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Hospitality Management before moving to Europe to work as a Tour Manager for Contiki Holidays. It was whilst living in Venice, Italy and leading tours throughout Europe that his love for wine began. Moving to Calgary, Canada in 2005 with his Canadian wife, he started selling some of Italy’s greatest wines to Canada’s best restaurants and wine shops. Returning to Australia in 2012 to Sydney, he spent 11 years working for Australia’s best Italian Wine Importer, Trembath and Taylor where he championed many of Italy’s greatest growers and winemakers. Recently taking a position as Business Development for Australia & New Zealand with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust to follow his passion for Wine Education. Currently studying to be a Master of Wine and most importantly, was awarded the Italian Wine Ambassador in April 2023.

Luca Speri together with his sisters Chiara and Laura and his cousins Alberto, Giampaolo and Giampietro represents the sixth generation of the Speri family. Beside them, there is also Giuseppe, Alberto's son, of the seventh generation. 
Luca  is the “youngest” member of his generation at 43 years old but he has already a huge amount of experience. From 2002, he has started working full time in the winery and he has been involved in every activity of the cellar. After several years of mentoring from  his father in and his cousins in production activities (viticulture, winemaking,packaging and sales & marketing. Naturally, being completely a family run company, Luca is involved in all parts of the the management and production in the winery. Luca understands all parts of the wine business and has shown his talent for sales exporting his families’ wines to over 60 countries including U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Switzerland and many others. 

Beside the family winery Luca is also  a founding Member of the board of Famiglie Storiche,  the Association of Amarone Families who are the top wineries producing Amarone. PLUS, is past President & still a Director on the board of the Antica Bottega del Vino in Verona, the most historical restaurant in Verona with one of the top wine lists in the world  and a must visit for any wine lover travelling through Verona but watch out during Vinitaly cause it is the hottest place in town.

She’s been an advocate of trade for the Italian Government for more than 30 years and has spent over 15 years based abroad working in various countries throughout Asia and USA. Since September 2023, she has been posted in Bangkok, Thailand. Her personal background is in public sector trade and investment, international education industry, consumer and business-to-business publishing.  Paola Guida represented the Italian Trade Commission acting for the Italian government across several continents and developed a broad network of contacts and trade relations in the Asia region. Paola is responsible for providing strategic support in the areas of policy and procedures pertaining to international trade as well as marketing and investment related issues. She executes strategic and financial management of marketing campaigns and PR activities for government institutions and private enterprises, as well as retaining successful public affairs campaigns representing Italian trade to the press, local government, and trade institutions. Drawing on extensive expertise in international trade, she encouraged the entry of Italian exports across international markets, acting on the Commission’s authority in dealings with various bodies from the private and public sectors across Europe and Asia. She holds an MBA and a Degree in Political Science, and she is proficient in both Italian and English.
