"The work we do in the vineyard, as I always say to my grandfather, is not only viticulture, it is also the art of gardening and in this way we are able to provide so much care to our vines.  A complete respect for nature and its cycles without the use of chemicals; even the vines are tied up with broom fibers that are dried during the summer.  To me the work in the vineyard is essential (we only vinify grapes grown in our vineyard) and when the grapes arrive in the winery and the winemaking begins I am worried, in a way, that I may ruin the fruits of the harvest.  Fortunately, the satisfactory end result makes all the hard work in the vineyard and cellar worthwhile"

About Stef Yim:
Born in Hong Kong, Stef grew up in LA where he became a Sommelier at top restaurants. He quickly became fascinated with wines from volcanic soils, after wines from these soils kept beating Grand Cru Burgundy and others in his blind tastings. 
To learn winemaking, Stef worked for wineries in Lake County US, Madiran France, and the Canary Islands, Spain, before purchasing a plot of land in Contrada Taccione on Mount Etna and built his own winery in 2014 (Azienda Agricola Sciara). The story unfolds from there but you will have to tune-in to find out!

He is the owner of Vigne Olcru; a very charismatic man who was the CEO and Vice President of a large electronics and electrical engineering corporation that was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, with 24 plants in 18 countries, 2000 employees - but truly he’s a very passionate soul who has now dedicated his life along with his brother to working with universities and putting effort into researching pinot noir clones, farming methods, satellite technology and even neuroscientific experiments on wine drinkers!

Guest Producer- Stefano Chiarlo			
Stefano Chiarlo was born on June 3, 1969 in Piedmont. He graduated in 1989 from the Enological School of Alba with a degree in Enology. Following his diploma, Stefano enrolled in the national service before beginning work at Michele Chiarlo in 1991 as Assistant to Enologist to Roberto Bezzato.
Stefano became Michele Chiarlo’s chief winemaker in 1999 with the cooperation of Gianni Meleni. His philosophy is to produce wines of great elegance that respect the varietal and terroir; wines rich but not dense or heavy, with subtle use of wood.

After being an international tax consultant for almost 20 years, Gianluca made a career switch and joined the wine industry 5 years ago. Originally from Italy, he is now based in the Boston area where he owns and runs Wine Empire, a fine wine retailer. Gianluca holds a law degree, a Master in Accounting & International Tax, and speaks fluently three languages. He also dedicated himself to many aspects of the wine world: tasting events, writing, wine education. He became an Italian Wine Ambassador & Educator (through Vinitaly International Academy) in 2019 and is a certified French Wine Scholar, American Wine Expert, Bordeaux & Burgundy Specialist, Sherry Wine Specialist, holds the WSET Diploma & currently a MW candidate. In 2021, he launched in the U.S. the Italian Wine Maestro Certification.

Arianna Occhipinti has emerged as a pivotal personality for a new generation of wine enthusiasts. Her rapid rise is well-deserved: she is based in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, where she farms Native varieties of Sicily. She is well-known for cultivating wines using biodynamic methods.
Arianna Occhipinti is a young winemaker from Vittoria, in the south-eastern tip of Sicily, the warm island off of Italy’s Mediterranean coast. In a region often associated with Marsala and with producing bulk quantities of full-fleshed, plummy and ripe reds made for export and blending, Arianna Occhipinti’s wines are non-conformist and highly atypical for the region.
Her wines (made from the indigenous grapes Nero d’Avola and the little-known Frappato) reflect, in part, her character: mysterious, earthy and intriguing. The wines are perfumed and spicy, with a bit of a wild streak that mirrors the rebellious energy that bubbles beneath her reserved and somewhat wary exterior.
Along with her winemaking, Arianna makes an incredible olive oil that is hard to get, and once you’ve tasted it, it’s even harder to forget.

Christoph Künzli is owner of Le Piane, the leading producer in Boca DOC in Alto Piemonte.
Originally from Switzerland, Christoph worked as an importer of Italian wine & in one of his travels became acquainted with the region of «Boca» in 1988 as well as with Antonio Cerri, one of the last local winegrowers in the area.

Alicia Lini represents the fourth generation of the Lini family, producers of some of Italy’s most acclaimed and highly rated sparkling wines. Since 1910, when they first established their winery in Correggio township (Reggio Emilia province, in the region of Emilia-Romagna), they have never followed the trends or fashions that have driven Lambrusco production in this century and the last. They make their Lambrusco — including their classic method Lambrusco, produced using traditional hand-riddling — the same way they always have: The traditional “dry” style of Lambrusco, with a focus on freshness, brilliant fruit flavors, and food-friendliness. They ascribe their success to their vision of what Lambrusco is and should be. Cascina Fontana is a wholly traditional wine estate that respects and follows the culture, traditions and history of Le Langhe. Mario himself personally oversees the entire cycle of production, from the tending of the vineyards to the making of the wines, taking the greatest and most meticulous care at every stage of the process. Chris Scott was born in Dunedin, New Zealand and studied at Canterbury University where he graduated with first class honours in electrical engineering. He was a keen rower and was proud to have rowed for the New Zealand junior team at the age of 16. As a student he worked hands-on in the vineyards of Canterbury but it wasn't until after he had settled in London that his interest in wine developed. He met Jane his wife in 1999 and they married in 2001, the year they began their wine studies before setting up ThirtyFifty in 2002.

He got a Master’s Degree in Wine Management at the University of Florence. Silvia Altare grew up in a wine family made famous by her father Elio, who in the mid-1970s was one of the “Barolo Boys” who dared to make wine more like the French Burgundians. Elio and Lucia’s two children, Silvia and Elena, however, were never pressured to involve themselves with winemaking. In the early 1980s, that was a future reserved for boys.
Growing up, Silvia participated in the various aspects of winegrowing and winemaking with her family but often felt that she had to prove herself as a girl. Starting in 1994, when she was 15 years old, her parents sent her to live with a family in California for the summer. She attended the University of Economy  in Turin and studied international business, graduating in 2003. Her travels and work harvests in California, Burgundy and Australia led her to join the family estate after her graduation.

Beatrice Contini Bonacossi (or “Bea” for short) is a family proprietor and international ambassador for the Capezzana estate in the Northwest corner of Tuscany, in the small appellation of Carmignano.She is fluent in French, English, and Italian with some knowledge of Spanish. She represents her family’s wines and the Capezzana legacy around the world.
Bea’s first job at the estate came by chance when her late older brother, Vittorio Contini Bonacossi, noted agronomist and winemaker, sought a translator for unexpected visitors. Vittorio immediately recognized his sister’s potential for customer relations. Her other skill, discovered while she was a student in England, was sales. Soon after, her father, Count Ugo, sent Bea to the U.S. for a few weeks to study the nuances of the U.S. market with wine-industry legend Philip di Belardino, in New York.
Filippo Contini Bonacossi is the fourth generation of Contini Bonacossi’s family at Capezzana Estate. Filippo was born in Pisa on July 26, 1964, the last of seven children.  
He studied Agriculture at University of Florence.He has been working at Capezzana for over 25 years together with his 2 sisters Beatrice, sales Director and Benedetta the winemaker. He is in charge of a very important product for Capezzana: The Extra Virgin Olive Oil. He takes on the administration part of the business, and travels around Italy to work with the Sales Team. He is in charge of Capezzana Social Media, a very important tool to promote his wines.

Alessandro Boga was born in Rimini, Italy, Alessandro Boga earned a Bachelor Degree in Political Science in 2006 and a Master’s Degree in Economics at the University of Bologna in 2009. After study and work experiences in Istanbul (Turkey), London (UK), and finally New York, Alessandro joined Colangelo & Partners, a NYC-based integrated marketing agency specialized in food, wine & spirits, in 2011. In five years Alessandro grew his responsibilities to the level of directing all marketing activities for Italian wine clients, such as Arnaldo Caprai, Bisol, Frescobaldi, Ornellaia, Consorzio Prosecco DOC and many others. Alessandro joined Wilson Daniels Wholesale in NY as sales representative in February 2016, with the goal to expand the distribution of the Italian portfolio in the NYC metro area. Since April 2018 Alessandro is the National Italian Specialist of Wilson Daniels, focusing on promoting the Italian wines to the main leading fine wine markets. Alessandro was awarded a Professional Certificate in Digital Media Marketing from New York University in 2010, the WSET Advanced Level 3 certificate at the International Wine Center in New York in 2014, the Italian Wine Professional Certificate at Italian Wine Central in 2015 and the CSW certificate by the Society of Wine Educators in 2018. Vinitaly International Academy pinned Alessandro as Italian Wine Ambassador in June 2019 and Certified Italian Wine Educator in April 2020

About today’s guest producer:
Marco Caprai was born in Foligno in 1964, he studied Political Sciences at the University of Perugia in 1983. Since 1987 he has dedicated himself to the family winery founded by his father, Arnaldo Caprai in Montefalco, Umbria, which at that time was only an area for DOC wines.
In 1989, Marco launched the "Sagrantino Project" in collaboration with the University of Milan, with the specific goal of researching Sagrantino, a native grape from Montefalco which was pretty much unknown.
From the very early stages of his career, he took on the role of Director for the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Montefalco and helped writing the regulations for the newly formed DOCG Montefalco Sagrantino, which will come in 1992.
After this important milestone, Marco starts a very long journey, which still is ongoing as we speak, of taking on multiple roles for prominent institutions in the area of agriculture, promotion of the territory, culture and innovation. Confagricoltura, Milan Expo, Strada del Sagrantino just to name a few.
