It seems like aaaaages since there's been a Kojak Giant Sounds - I would use the Google and find out just how long if I wasn't too busy shaking all my shit to the shoulder rolling Afro-cosmic of "Kamassa Trip". That's right folks, Mike Burns' A-side smasher here is a fully fledged floor filler in pure Baldelli/Loda fashion. Drums clatter and batter, the bassline rolls on and on and funky pianos add a touch of disco flair, keeping us thrusting away to the MASSIVE vocal chant. Expertly arranged, extended into chest beating intensity and decorated with all sorts of tripped out fx, this one's coming home with me! Over on the flip, Stockholm's Beatconductor dishes out the Red Stripe and Panama Red with the squelchy, stretched and spangled "Sunshine Life", a seriously summery cod-reggae cut for all the disco drunkards.

In 2015, JD Twitch's Autonomous Africa label released Youth Stand Up!, a triangular recording project hatched at Glasgow’s Green Door Studio that brought together young musicians from Belize, Ghana and Glasgow for ten tracks of cross-cultural collaboration. The result was an infectious cocktail of traditional Caribbean and West African rhythms, hip hop, highlife and Glaswegian post-punk, featuring contributions from Optimo Music regulars Golden Teacher and Whilst, among others.

The proceeds from that project went directly back to the youth groups in Ghana and Belize, helping the musicians from Ghana’s Tafi Cultural Institute build a recording studio and performance space in their village.

Two years later, a grant from Creative Scotland’s Open Fund spawned the sequel to Youth Stand Up!: Youth Stand United, recorded both at Green Door and at TCI’s new studio in Ghana (with Golden Teacher’s Laurie Pitt at the controls), and mixed by Green Door’s Stuart and Emily Evans.

Youth Stand United features backing tracks contributed by members of Golden Teacher, Pu$$y Mothers, Whilst, Kaputt, and Sordid Sound System, with vocals provided by the musicians from TCI. Over 6 songs, it oscillates from the left-field disco of Diloeshutubui to the Juju-electro odyssey of Gidi to the Joe-Meek-meets-William Onyeabor space age gospel pop of Nobody Knows.

Proceeds from Youth Stand United will go towards a scholarship fund for musicians from Tafi Atome, Ghana.

Here is the 2nd in a series of 'mixes' I intend to make over the coming weeks of music that I find particularly tranquil. I will try to make these one hour sessions filled with beautiful music that is helpful and calming to listen to while we get through this extraordinarily hard time. The music here definitely helps me feel less anxious. I have taken a slightly different approach on this one and it does feature some beats later in the mix, so feedback welcome on whether this one has the desired effect. After their strong album "Fears & Dreams of Living Machines" which came out two years ago, Zero Call return to the scene with their smashing new hit single "Stellar Wind" for the German label "Emerald & Doreen Records", including  a videoclip by 3D artist Oscar Civit from Barcelona. Zero Call keep on communicating through their personal Synth/Retrowave trademark sound about the social contradictions of the new century, a time when humans have fallen into the trap of endless technological progress. The story that arises is a tribute to Edward Snowden's revelations.
The EP includes four remixes by some of the best underground Synth-Disco prducers and DJs Technobeton (BGR), Adrian Marth (SPA), Fab Mayday (ITA) and Arkademode (SPA).

ITALO ITALIANS è un progetto che nasce dalla collaborazione di Dj Fab A.k.a. FabMayDay , Giuseppe Trupiano, Marco Mando e Michele Celeschi, tutti già collaboratori delle serate dance-electro del venerdì “Friday I’m in Rock” all’Urban Club di Perugia.


Nell’estate del 2010 sorge la necessità di creare un evento che possa catalizzare al meglio l’idea di divertimento in cui il rapporto con il pubblico è centrato sulla qualità della proposta musicale.

Quindi armati di buona volontà e coadiuvati nel lavoro da un folto gruppo di “addicted”,(Ciavarro, Fegatone, Alessandro Pantano) danno vita alla prima serie di parties sotto il brand “ITALO ITALIANS”.

Niente lustrini e paillettes; niente passerelle e modelle, “just good music for friendly people”. Questa prerogativa emerge chiaramente quando è il momento di mettere a punto la prima programmazione estiva.

Il concept racchiude un chiaro riferimento alla tradizione ItaloDisco dal sapore retrò, strizzando comunque l’occhio alle esperienze Cosmic\Disco più attuali.

La selezione degli ospiti è “scientifica”, si cerca il meglio del passato, del presente e probabilmente del futuro nel panorama peninsulare. In consolle si alternano senza bisogno di presentazioni Daniele Baldelli, Ajello e Fabrizio Mammarella insieme a tanti giovani Djs umbri che di certo non hanno demeritato per quantità e qualità.

Dopo il successo della prima edizione, una fortunata stagione invernale con ospiti come Norman Jay MBE, Andrew Weatheral, Jacques Renault e Flight Facilities. Nasce una serata mensile al Loop Cafè dove si esibiscono vari dj tra cui l'astro nascente australiano Cassian; nel frattempo nasce il blog, seguito dalla nascita della label "italo Italians Records" la cui prima uscita "Disco Verme" è attesa per novembre 2011. Intanto Italo Italians inizia a fare serate anche a Londra....
