MM CAST 04: Franz Scala

From his studio at the (infamous) berliner club "Sameheads" , Franz Scala has been building with years a great reputation on the contemporary "Italo-Dance-scene", being the mind behind 2 essential labels as "Slow Motion" and "Wrong Era". Artists like "Fabrizio Mammarella", "Francisco" or "Rodion", to name a few, have been rising as a part of the Italian family that Scala has created with "Slow Motion".

Imprints as "Bordello A Parigi", "Tusk Wax", "Bahnsteig 23" or "MM Discos" have had the pleasure of hosting the Italian maestro, signing there remarkable records. Italian dance highly influenced by new wave, obscure synths and a little balearic touch.

We are very happy to have Franz for the 4th episode of our monthly "MM Casts", doing what he knows best, and inviting us to a space oddity thru wave, synth pop and of course...italo disco baby ;)

This month we add a name I've been a mega-fan of for the better part of 2 decades. Like a fine wine, this legend gets better and better with time!  Yan Wagner AKA The Populists is an artist of the truest form, his sound is unique, original and 100% in a league of its own. With releases on many of my flavorists like Zone Music,  Space Factory, Les Disques De La Mort, Detriti  Records, Ritmo Fatale, Les Yeux Orange & Her Majesty's Ship it's easy to see why this guy is so high on my radar! Rocking in at No. 55 with a mix of epic proportions is the truly incredible Yan Wagner AKA The Populists! Feel amazing to add this artist to the collection!! Enjoy! #wherethelinesblur

After working a year on his first EP - Mouissie has returned and released his debut EP ' Chasing A Feeling' on Ritmo Fatale. 'With his roots in Amsterdam’s DIY scene, Extase Urbaine has been quick gaining a momentum, achieving local and international recognition.

He is the co-founder and resident DJ of HDE, a collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of underground clubbing. HDE nights quickly became among Amsterdam’s most recognized parties, known for their multidisciplinary approach to the dance floor.

His DJ sets cross weave genres, scenes, past and present, blending everything from EBM and New Beat, to electro and trance-y explorations.

Extase has released music on independent record labels such as Soil and the Athenean Ferma, and is soon releasing an EP with Budapest’s Dalmata Daniel.'
