I knew there was a reason why I love the Sonic Mania track Dimension Heist so much! It has a section where it plays literally the same motif as the Walt Disney Home Video theme, which takes me back to some of the earliest years of my childhood.

I made this as a test of my ability to create a Sonic CD-themed tune. The three-note riff is my attempt at making a memorable motif for the theme, akin to the Japanese version of the Sonic CD soundtrack.

Forgotten Fortress - Bad Future [JP]

Amazingly, this tune uses only instruments in the Rhythm Heaven soundfont. I wanted the chord progressions to be a bit more unique and satisfying in this one. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether or not I succeeded.

I can never really find a way to progress the chord back to the original after going nuts... it's SOOOO HAAAARD.

Something I threw together. I spent 13.5 hours on this dang thing. Don't know what I was going for, but I KNEW I had to use that snare sample somewhere.

Fun fact - that poppy snare was also used in Sonic CD's US soundtrack, as well as Sonic Mania.

And I'm still just as unoriginal and terrible with names as I was years ago.

Wanted to try improving my skills a bit more. Started throwing this together, and managed to make a really catchy starting melody in just 30 minutes. I spent 11.5 hours on the thing altogether.

No, seriously. I spent countless sleepless nights doing nothing but tweaking the melody behind this godforsaken tune, saving and deleting, saving and deleting, saving and deleting...

I finally found a melody that satisfies me, and after over a year of having this thing sitting unfinished on my computer.

Downtown Detour

There's a weird story behind this tune. I was walking back to work one evening, and I looked up towards the sky to check out the moon. It was barely visible behind the clouds, and being the total goof that I am, I suddenly said out loud "The moon is barely visible!" in the most melodic way ever. That little quip was so perfect, I recorded myself singing it so I wouldn't forget it. As soon as I got home that night, I turned that little riff into this song.

The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like the end credits theme to a spooky 90s cartoon. And amazingly, this tune uses only instruments from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney!
