4am and thinking about how weird romanticism is. like  the small town american lifestyle that was romanticised through movies, but it kind of is a romantic lifestyle?  people don't wish to spend summer working a diner in any other country, its just a US thing. maybe all the media coming out in the 2010s kind of pushed that idea but still, there's   something so intimate about having a coming of age story in a place like that - and most of us never get that. its weird, does real life have an effect on what makes movies romantic or do movies make these ideas romantic. maybe a mixture of the two, but also i dont know anyone who lives this dream (not dream in a perfect way, dream in a fantasy way) and loves it, im pretty sure they all hate it. but i think hating it is part of it, like you have to have that almost depressing life for it to fit that. windy days in small towns, so weird. i wonder who makes all this media too, some of it gets the nail on the head so well but is it just because they know what the fantasy is? if i made a film or game with that feeling i would definitly do the same stuff, but someone had to do it first. theres no way someone romanticised small town america teenage-hood without living it first? because some people really do live it! anyways... 

watching the life is strange title screen on repeat  as i write this, havent even played that game but i remember i watched parts of it when i was a kid. i think this song would work really well in a story driven indie game like that. or that one game set in the big house with similar art style i played with my ex ages ago, i forgot the name but similar vibe. spent ages fucking with the speed, loads of cool versions but this one is my favourite. 

weird timeline, started as a kinda melancholy end of summer song with just that guitar, then i added the mario 64 stuff because i just set that all up and then i abandoned it. picked it back up again after getting the bus home and being sat next to a girl who i noticed was listening to 'when the sun hits' one stop before she got off, i seriously cant believe i didnt say something to her. need to start thinking faster and be less worried about coming across weird. wanted to not feel like a complete fuck up and just finish a song and remembered i had this one. went fully in on the emo, game exploration music vibe.
