Once upon a time I was at The Grace Church Christmas Choir performance when they started The Little Drummer Boy. Though I've heard it a gazillion times, I was hit like a freight train. I had just lost my dad and when the lyric got to "I'll play my best for him" I couldn't speak. A good song will do that.

Later that night, the chorus of this song poured out of me. It's a labor of love in honor of my dad, Thomas P Robinson. On our last day together I remember saying, "no goodbyes dad...I will see you again someday."

At Christmas Time 12.2015

I read about a young woman named Esther who planned to be married the following Saturday. 

This song was written years before reading of her personal tragedy. I don't ask questions, I just write what moves me. I lived across the street from the site of the fire for years. I don't believe in coincidence as much as I believe in destiny.  Reading her story gave me a chill. I now know who I had written the song about. Thank you Esther. i believe you had a hand in this!


Moreover, this song is a tribute to the women and men who died at The Triangle. They were not Martyrs as the plaque on the wall at Washington and Greene St's suggest. They were victims of greedy shop owners who cared more about profit margins than worker safety and had once been sweat shop workers themselves.
