"I love the DKJ sound, it's just what I am looking for! I feel domestic here and I think that everybody involved in this music scene can benefit from it."

1. How would you describe your sound?

“We' don't like to describe our sound because we self-define quite Ecletic as producers...we have not a particvoular trademark on our sounds but we like to experiment all we like...from proper old school vibes to most Deep House and Underground...and try to melt everything in one!”

2. Where would you love to play live?

“The place we are dreaming to play one day definitely is Ushuaia on Ibiza. We love the people and we love that beautiful scenography from Arena, as well as their soundsystem. We would also love to play at the legendary New York's Cielo or at the Watergate in Berlin. We hope one day will be the day!”

3. Next Release?

“Our next releases we scheduled for early 2015 are a single on our Imprint "Safe Music" in January and an EP on Riva Starr's label “Snatch! Records” (release date tba) as well as some remixes for Dino Lenny and David Herrero. But we worked hard, so prepare for a surprise in 2015! Follow us on our socials to stay up to date.”

4. How did you learn producing?

"Honestly we learned everything ourselves, simply to take a lot of cues from many masters of this world as "Kenny Dope, Todd Terry, Dennis Ferrer, Maw” and more. We obviously learned many things about software and hardware by watching some video-tutorials. But it doesn’t really matter where and how u made the sounds. What does matter is the final result!"

5. Favorite track at the moment/all time?

"Yeah nice question. Definitely two of our most favorite tracks all time are "Brighter Days (Underground Goodie Mix)” by Cajmere and the legendary song of Marshall Jefferson "Move Your Body" which we reworked in 2011 and which was licensed on Ultra Records with all official reworks that year."

6. Favorite Dj Setup?

"Our favorite DJ setup was and still is the classic Dj setup: Mixer + 2 CDJs, because we love the real contact to the music (that only CDJs or Vinyls can give you). No digital interfaces, no FX Machines. Our sets are simple and the importang thing to us is the selection of tracks and the technique of mixing them. We think that we will never abandon using CDJs or Vinyls."

7. What keeps you going?

"Well, of course our real passion towards this music is one of the most substantial reasons that are keeping us in the business. There are a lot of up’s and down’s but if you’re 100% loving the music, nothing and nobody can stop you!"

“Tresor, Berlin - Act: PET DUO
135 bpm, but strangely enough it was not annoying. The only thing I perceived were the silhouettes and the techno. Another world.”

“FL Studio. I started using Ableton when I was younger though. I switched to FL Studio since the interface was more clear to me so I got into it and I’m still using it today.”

1. Next Release?

“On the 26th January, we’re going to have two single releases. One on Erase with our friend Klos called «That’s My Word» and one on Sleazy G called «That Dope» featured on a special release including Vanilla Ace & Doug English.”

2. Where would you love to play live?

“We would say Warung Beach Club or Ministry Of Sound but honestly the main thing is to play for people who like what you are doing, no matter where you are.”

3. Dream collab?

“We are playing & producing in different styles but we would love to work with producers like Kolombo, Amine Edge & DANCE or Justin Martin.”

4. Who will considerably give direction to the deep house scene soon?

“There is probably more than one but we would name Shiba San, Tim Baresko or Ryan Blyth and some labels like Cuff or maybe ours, House Of Hustle, at least we hope so.”

5. What do you think about DIT KLINGT JUT ?

“DKJ is a really good initiative, kinda one that is truly important for the music industry and underground artists like us.”

6. Most exciting club moment?

“When you are playing your tracks and you see the crowd smiling and going nuts on it! But yeah, anytime you can feel that the people like what you are playing, the moment is exciting.”

7. What makes dance music so special to you?

“We love it cause this is the kind of music that can make people forget about all their daily problems and cause its aim is just to make people happy and having a good time.”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“As a producer I produce nu disco/indie dance and house. My music is a mixture of house, funk, disco and electro, with a little French touch with a little deep tech house flavour sometime.”

“I always use 70’s disco elements in my music, and I guess my bass sound is quite unique too.”

4. How did you learn producing?

“In the 90’s I played live rock music. Originally I’m a guitar player. When electronic acts like The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers were topping the charts in the mid 90’s I was amazed by them, and started build my own home studio. I started to produce music on the computer around 2000. I learnt everything by myself.”

5. What keeps you going?

“Faith in music. I also always believe that I can make better and better music than I did before.”

6. Digital Audio Workstation?

“Cubase. I started on Cubase and Nuendo. Now I use Cubase 7 with Propellerhead Reason Rewire.”

7. What makes dance music so special to you?

“I love to make experiences and changes in sound. Dance music always changes its way, and it makes me feeling comfortable, because I don’t have to do the same thing on and on.”

8. What do you listen besides electronic music?

“Mostly funk and disco from the 70’s. All my favourite producers are from that era. Besides I love classic rock music too.”

“We have always just made what we decide to make when we sit down in the studio and although we have influences we always give the Disord3r style and stay true to what we like.”

“This is a hard one for us but it has to be getting booked to DJ at SOULVISION FESTIVAL, Brazil in February 2014.”

“We listen to all sorts of music but we prefer Garage, UK Garage, some Hip Hop and R’n’B and also commercial House.”

4. What keeps you going?

“The thing that keeps us going is that we are best friends before music, enjoy making music as a hobby and love to spend time in the studio together. We also have the same taste in sound which helps obviously.”

“One of our favourite tracks of all time has to be ‘Ripgroove - Double 99’.”

“Our favourite DJ set up has to be Pioneer CDJ 2000’s and a Pioneer DJM 2000.”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“Our sound consists of two components. On the one hand there is our deep side, on the other hand there is our G-House side. We like to play and produce both of them. Of course you can put more emotions and variations in the deeper work which is fittingly convenient to Ingo. We would eventually describe our sound as a mix between both of them.”

2. What is your trademark?

“Speaking of red hair and the sigmatism... We think our trademark is Ingo’s E.W.I. as well as Julien’s comprehension of the turntable. We often get to hear that our selection of vinyls/tracks and Ingo’s E.W.I. entrances are fitting very well.”

3. What keeps you going?

“There are several things driving us. Of course, you want to be successful, but how do you define “success”? To us, it’s already a little achievement when people come to us after a gig and bear their hearts to us regarding how reatly the music was touching them and how much they enjoyed it. But what drives us most is to see how our skills improve from time to time.”

4. What makes you laugh?

“A morbid sense of humor and ambiguities. We are generally a very humorous duo. We talk shit and laugh a lot. It’s always been like that and it will stay like it as we think. We also like to hose each other, I mean look at us: The one’s got red hair and the other’s got a slight sigmatism.”

5. Where would you love to play?

“To be honest, we didn’t really think about that yet. There are a lot of beatiful places but what counts in the end is the crowd. And that can be great everywhere! But if you would ask us for a particular place, then we would say an Open Air with a panorama view on a nice natural backdrop is where we would love to play.”

6. How did you learn producing?

“We taught producing to ourselves bit by bit. Ingo is more focussing on the meoldical part while Julien is more responsible for the technical work. We do switch the allocation sometimes but it’s mostly as just mentioned. We still learn from project to project, so we wouldn’t call ourselves fully trained profis.”

7. What you can’t stand?

“We hate „DJ ́s“ who don’t have their own style and mix one genre after on another….HORRENDOUS! Furthermore, we can’t stand producers who became fame through Bootlegs and Edits only and can’t convince with their own work. There are several names coming to our minds, but we don’t want to start a beef here…or do we? ;) It’s enough to say that there has already been a SoundCloud profile deleted because of those things.”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“We are profoundly influenced by Classic House (Garage, Hip, Chicago, Acid), specially when it comes to percussion, Deep House from 2005 to 2008 and also recent genres such as Jackin and Bass House. So, that’s when the old meets the new and it brings all the magic of nostalgic feelings with the quality technology can offer.”

2. Dream collab?

“We absolutely love Simon Garcia, his music is so hypnotic and intense, we would be honoured to work with him.”

3. What keeps you going?

“The fact that art is immortal and we can contribute to a legacy somehow. We live for the art and our music basically reflects our relationship with everything we love.”

4. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“Our taste is very similar, so we both listen to a lot of Rock, from classic to indie and also Disco Funk.”

5. You in 10 years?

A- Well, in 10 years we hope to still be making music and djing because those are the things we love doing most. At that point we expect to have worked on many tracks and an album for Der Extraklasse and our solo careers.”

6. Digital Audio Workstation?

“Definitelly Logic Pro and Logic Pro X. We experienced using other softwares such as Ableton Live and FL Studio but none of them pleased us as much as Logic.”

7. Next Release?

“Our next EP will be released in the end of March by our own label Extraklasse Records, entitled “Intimacy” featuring the singer Katie Bregman and including remixes by brazilian artists Huntter, The Miners and Paulo Trip.”

8. How did you come up with the name “Der Extraklasse”?

“We wanted something in German because we are big fans of German music, since Kraftwerk and we were chatting about the name, so I came up with this idea as we wanted to make high quality music one of the project's main characteristic.”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“I’m still trying to find my sound but I try to capture an element of darkness within my original tracks. I wouldn’t want my tracks to be described as happy, feel good music that I feel some of my previous tracks have been. I think my upcoming track ‘The Panther’ describes this better than I can!”

2. Favorite track at the moment/all time?

“My favorite track at the moment is the Shadow Child remix of ‘Right now’ by Mary J. Blige. What my favorite track of all time is, is a tough question! It’s a tie between Careless by Dusky and the Hot Since 82 remix of bigger than prince.”

3. Dream collab?

“My dream collab would be with Shadow Child. One of my biggest influences!”

4. What keeps you going?

“I attend a lot of tech house nights that feature the artists that inspire me and just watching them play to such a huge crowd, who are loving the music, gives me such a drive to get making new stuff.”

5.You in 10 years?

“The dream is to just have people know my name and have heard my music. A big goal is to travel around the world and play my stuff. Also to be involved in a festival, maybe Creamfields, which is one of the biggest dance festivals in the UK!”

6. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“I love anything acoustic and particularly like Boyce Avenue and the acoustic covers they do. I also love swing music and can listen to Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra all day!”

7. How did you learn producing?

“I learned producing purely through practicing and watching tutorials. In addition I learned the basics of how to use my DAW, which helped me when it came to changing my style of music throughout the years.”

8. Who will considerably give direction to the deep house scene soon?

“Hard to say! I couldn’t pinpoint a particular artist however just as how deep house has blown up the past year, maybe there’ll be a big influx of tech fans next.”

9.Favorite DJ Setup?

“Just the industry standard Pioneer 2000’s & DJM 2000 is good enough for me!”

10. Digital Audio Workstation?

“I’ve always used Fl studio for my music, never really experimented with any others!”

11. Where would you love to play live?

“Funnily enough I’ve always wanted to play in Berlin! I read a lot about the amazing clubs over there.”

12. What makes dance music so special to you?

“I love the energy and how it can put people into a trance. Time passes very quickly when you’re listening to good music.”

13. What is your trademark?

“My tracks are very bass orientated so I guess that’s what people can expect of me!”

14. Next release?

“My next track being released is ‘The Panther’, however there isn’t a set date yet! I’m also working towards a 4 track EP at the moment with a friend of mine doing some techno remixes of the originals!”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“I think our sound is Garage with house elements, but done in a tasteful way. We have listened to garage and speed garage since time began, so it was the perfect genre we wanted to incorporate us into when we started. But because nobody dances to 138 bpm no more and we also had a love for house we decided to try to gel the 2 together thus creating our sound.”

2. Most exciting club moment?

“I’d say our best club moment didn’t actually happen in a club! We have had so many brilliant times in clubs but our stand out sets have been at the festivals Zandfoort, which is the cloud festival for deep house database, Londrina Brazil, where we played on the groovedose stage, and Maputo Mozambique, the gloom festival. All these where part of our domino effect tour! Each one seemed to make us grow and we learned so much. Also the crowds were absolutely on point! Hanging off every track and actually dancing, not being moody twats.

3. How did you learn producing?

“Well I (S. Jay) have been producing since I was about 16. My friend got reason and showed it to me, which just blew me away! Not long after he got Ableton and I fell in love with it even more. But back then I was more into event organizing so I didn’t really put a lot of time in. I started taking it more serious when I was 21 and started really focusing on it. Grinding every day to try learn new things and get a crisp sound, I also put out quite a lot of rubbish but was learning along the way! Everything I know I taught myself apart from learning a few essential tips from my friends Nick Hannam, Dene Antony and Chris Gresswell! I used to chill with them, we started doing collabs and I clicked onto what I was missing in my tracks even though they used different software than me! They are very talented guys. Also Alex Lister helped me out a lot! I was forever sending unfinished poorly made tracks like ''what you think of this'' and been the gentleman he is, he always listened to it and gave me constructive criticism which really helped!”

4. Favorite track at the moment/all time?

“Well with the amount of brilliant music been pushed out at the minute our favorite changes every week. I suppose if we had to pick a favorite of all time it would be “Fatima Rainey - Hey (Mount Rushmore Deep Vocal Mix”. What can you say about this track apart from perfection? We both love it and still play it to this day.”

5. Dream collab?

“Well I (S. Jay) have actually already done my own personal one when we did our collab with my now good friend Rich Wakely (Filthy Rich). I was a fan of his sound for years and then one day Ostertag introduced me, as they had been friends for years and boom Smoking Mirrors.”

6. Favorite DJ Setup?

“It has to be Pioneer CDJ 2000 and a DJM 950. Also a sick function sound system or similar always helps!”

7. What keeps you going?

“We get a lot of support from our friends and family, who have had to put up with loud music late at night. But also mainly all the feedback from our listeners and fans. It makes it so much easier to have zero free time and be busy until early in the morning when people interact and leave such nice feedback. Must say support from some DJ we have major respect helps as well.”

8. What makes you laugh?

“Everything! We are always joking around and doing stupid stuff. There’s never a dull moment in the Domino HQ.”

9. You in 10 years?

“Hopefully doing what we are doing now. Since we started our Domino Anniversary Tour our eyes got opened and we see the potential of what you can actually do with music and what a brilliant time you can have doing it! If we keep plugging away like we have, hopefully Domino will become a respected label.”

“The truth is I always wanted to do a track with Sven Väth.”

“The satisfaction that people like my music. I think there is nothing better than that.”

“For example this question makes me laugh. I am a man, who is often smiling.”

“The truth is, I do not like it essential, but to have health and to continue with music.”

“Well, I think the best way to answer this question would be to ask the audience.”

10. Most exciting club moment?

"One of my best experiences was in Jordan. The set was right next to the Dead Sea and I was looking like a small child. It was very nice."

“Many artists are currently outperforming a lot, so it would be wrong, if I only mention one or a few people.”

12. Where would you love to play live?

“In N.Y.C and Berlin.”

“I like your initiative and I hope to continue this partnership even better and more equal for many years to come.”

14. What makes dance music so special to you?

“It is the best way to forget all your problems and to just enjoy the moment and the sound.”

15. What is your trademark?

“Deep House, House, Indie Nu disco and Tech House. But it always depends to the life situation, club etc.”

16. Next release?

“On April 6th my label, Pura Music, will release an A.V selection of 16 tracks with good artists like Dale Howard, Luna City Express, Ron Costa and many more including an original track of mine.”

17. What you can’t stand?

“One thing I cannot stand is hypocritical people.”

“Our sound is what distinguishes us from others. It’s very underground and full of the sub bass sound. And we stick by it.”

“It’s a constantly evolving cesspool of influences. I can’t make the same record twice, I feel like I’ve got to create something new and distinct with every production and remix.”

“This is a hard one. I had so many good times over the years, but popping my DC10 cherry this year was really cool. Met up with Josh Butler and went daft in Circoloco.”

“’Bill Withers - Lovely Day’. I can’t help trying to hold that long ‘day’ when it’s on in the car.”

4. Dream collab?

“Jimmy Hendrix.”

5. Favorite DJ Setup?

“I like my kit at home: two SL1210’s, Xone92 and Traktor. Love playing real wax as well as mp3’s. All with a touch and feel on vinyl and all sync turned off and no BPM/phase meter. This keeps you sharp.”

6. What keeps you going?

“Fresh coffee. I have an Italian Espresso machine at the studio that does the trick.”

7. What makes you laugh?

“My kids. They are hilarious. Unintentional half the time, but so funny.”

8. You in 10 years?

“Same. Just 10 years older. Hopefully, a little wiser.”

9. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“Old disco, or soundtracks for samples, it’s all kind of related to what I do - not much else really. There are just not enough hours in the day.”

10. How did you learn producing?

“I taught myself, I’ve always tried to make music with whatever was around. I’ve played keyboard and guitar from an early age. I worked in studio shops in London in the 90’s, so I picked up some great tips there but more recently it’s so easy to find techniques online. For whatever style you want to make.”

11. Who will considerably give direction to the deep house scene soon?

“I have a feeling that it’s going to be people like Apollonia and Dixon. I’m hearing people sway toward techno-influences but there is no place for it to develop. Distorted kicks and basses can only go so far. I think more beautiful and evolving deep house will have its time in the sun. That or super grooved out stuff like Tucillo is making.

“Logic foremost, Albeton is creeping in for the occasional project.”

13. Where would you love to play live?

“Main room DC10. Loop in Newcastle and Sankeys in Manchester.”

14. What do you think about DIT KLINGT JUT?

“It’s a brilliant concept, pleased to be a part of it.”

15. What makes dance music so special to you?

“Hard to define but it feels like it’s such a big part of who I am. Don’t know what or who I’d be without it.”

16. What is your trademark?

“I’m a northern grafter. I work hard on productions and hard on finding amazing music to play in DJ sets.”

17. Next release?

“I have an EP coming on Love Not Money, which is a great label I’ve had the opportunity to work with for some time now. There are some great mixes on the pack, very excited about it.”

18. What can’t you stand?

“Music Piracy. Playing pirated music is really just saying you don’t care or love the music.”

19. Who are your ones to watch in 2015?

"For me its got to be Kreature, Truth Be Told and Jonny Cade... all super talented and making real distictive house music."

INTERVIEW (Interview from S. Jay & Ostertag)
1. How would you describe your sound?

“I think our sound is Garage with house elements, but done in a tasteful way. We have listened to garage and speed garage since time began, so it was the perfect genre we wanted to incorporate us into when we started. But because nobody dances to 138 bpm no more and we also had a love for house we decided to try to gel the 2 together thus creating our sound.”

2. Most exciting club moment?

“I’d say our best club moment didn’t actually happen in a club! We have had so many brilliant times in clubs but our stand out sets have been at the festivals Zandfoort, which is the cloud festival for deep house database, Londrina Brazil, where we played on the groovedose stage, and Maputo Mozambique, the gloom festival. All these where part of our domino effect tour! Each one seemed to make us grow and we learned so much. Also the crowds were absolutely on point! Hanging off every track and actually dancing, not being moody twats.

3. How did you learn producing?

“Well I (S. Jay) have been producing since I was about 16. My friend got reason and showed it to me, which just blew me away! Not long after he got Ableton and I fell in love with it even more. But back then I was more into event organizing so I didn’t really put a lot of time in. I started taking it more serious when I was 21 and started really focusing on it. Grinding every day to try learn new things and get a crisp sound, I also put out quite a lot of rubbish but was learning along the way! Everything I know I taught myself apart from learning a few essential tips from my friends Nick Hannam, Dene Antony and Chris Gresswell! I used to chill with them, we started doing collabs and I clicked onto what I was missing in my tracks even though they used different software than me! They are very talented guys. Also Alex Lister helped me out a lot! I was forever sending unfinished poorly made tracks like ''what you think of this'' and been the gentleman he is, he always listened to it and gave me constructive criticism which really helped!”

4. Favorite track at the moment/all time?

“Well with the amount of brilliant music been pushed out at the minute our favorite changes every week. I suppose if we had to pick a favorite of all time it would be “Fatima Rainey - Hey (Mount Rushmore Deep Vocal Mix”. What can you say about this track apart from perfection? We both love it and still play it to this day.”

5. Dream collab?

“Well I (S. Jay) have actually already done my own personal one when we did our collab with my now good friend Rich Wakely (Filthy Rich). I was a fan of his sound for years and then one day Ostertag introduced me, as they had been friends for years and boom Smoking Mirrors.”

6. Favorite DJ Setup?

“It has to be Pioneer CDJ 2000 and a DJM 950. Also a sick function sound system or similar always helps!”

7. What keeps you going?

“We get a lot of support from our friends and family, who have had to put up with loud music late at night. But also mainly all the feedback from our listeners and fans. It makes it so much easier to have zero free time and be busy until early in the morning when people interact and leave such nice feedback. Must say support from some DJ we have major respect helps as well.”

8. What makes you laugh?

“Everything! We are always joking around and doing stupid stuff. There’s never a dull moment in the Domino HQ.”

9. You in 10 years?

“Hopefully doing what we are doing now. Since we started our Domino Anniversary Tour our eyes got opened and we see the potential of what you can actually do with music and what a brilliant time you can have doing it! If we keep plugging away like we have, hopefully Domino will become a respected label.”

1. How did you learn producing?

“I have a background of playing music as a teenager so when I ﬁrst got a Mac it was kind of inevitable for me to start playing around with Garage Band at some point. After a while, I got really into it and taught myself to use Reason. After graduating from university I decided to take music production more seriously and I studied audio
engineering and music production at Alchemea College in London.”

2. Next release?

“My next release will be a track that I made with Chris Lattner. It will come out in a compilation by French Kitchen Records as both vinyl and digital at the beginning of June. Other than that there’s a remix I did for F.eht which will be released on Raw Level Records some time during the summer and new tracks are on the way in collaboration with my favourite producer duo, Ordinary Subject.”

3. Dream collab?

“Deﬁnitely with Nils Frahm.”

4. What makes you laugh?

“Irony and sarcasm.”

5. Favourite track at the moment?

“It’s so hard to name just one but I listen to Play On by Nutia a lot lately.”

“It is very difﬁcult to choose favorite tunes, because there is a lot of good music out there. At the moment I hear/play the latest stuff from HIVER a lot. „Egeo“ is pretty cool. My all-time favorite tune is deﬁnitely BONE THUGS-N HARMONY - 1st Of Tha Month (Kruder & Dorfmeister Remixes Part I & II). The remixes gave me so much in all my special moments in my life. I guess these re-interpretations are the most relaxing songs of all time.”

2. Dream collab?

“I´m a huge fan of K&D and from the beginning I dreamed of a collaboration with Kruder & Dorfmeister. They did their own thing in a time when it was much more difﬁcult to release your own music. They did a great job and their music is still timeles.”

3. You in 10 years?

“I hope that I´m healthy and still able to do what makes me happy.”

4. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“I listen to a lot of Soul music, some special Jazz tunes and much Downbeat and Trip Hop. But in special moments to Pop tunes as well.”

5. DAW?

“Ableton Live 9 Suite. That was never different and is not going to change in the near future.”

6. How would you describe your sound?

“Someone described my sound as „catchy soulful & reduced house music“ - I guess this is the best and simplest explanation to that question. And of course he´s so damn right.”

7. Next release?

“My next EP will be released on RITTER BUTZKE STUDIO this summer. I´m very happy to publish my music on that record label. MARIO AUREO, label head of RBS, does a really good job and it is like a family for me. It is a EP with four tracks, 3 originals and one remix. I am really looking forward to this…keep your ears open!”

8. Patryk about his music:

"I love groovy, shaky things and I always try to transfer this into my productions. Tracks do not always have to be danceable or made for clubbing. They can simply be for listening and communicating a certain groove.
The most important thing is that they reflect what you felt while producing them and that they relate to yourself."

1. How would you describe your sound?

“I leave it to others to label my sound. For me it is something between House and Techno. Sometimes more House, sometimes a bit more Techno and sometimes somewhere in between. But whatever you may call it, I think it always has a good groove because that is really important to me! When a track doesn’t have a nice groove, it’s crap!

2. Favourite DJ Setup?

“2x Technics SL 1210 Mk2, 2x Pioneer CDJ 2000, Allen & Heath Xone 92.”

3. Favourite track at the moment/all time?

“Right now one of my favourite tracks is “Kink – Pocket Piano (Breakbeat Mix)”. This tune reminds me of the good old stuff from the 90s when I started DJ’ing. To pick an all time favourite track is a really hard job. I guess I cannot decide. There was and there is too much good music out there!”

4. Dream collab?

“I would really love to produce a Hip Hop Beat with DJ Premier. I was always fascinated by the way he worked with samples and his Akai MPC.”

5. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“Before I fell in love with House and Techno Music, I was a big fan of Hip Hop. At home I still enjoy to listen to the stuff I grew up with like Nas, De La Soul, A Tribe called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, Gang Starr and all that other good Hip Hop stuff from the 90s. But there is so much more music out there that I like: Soul, Jazz, Drum n’ Bass, Reggae, Dancehall, Punk, Hardcore. I can find good Songs or Tracks in almost every genre that exists.”

6. What keeps you going?

“The love for the music and the feeling when the crowd responses to your DJ Set and you recognize that there is a connection between you and the people on the dancefloor.
And of course the fun that I have when sitting in the studio and producing a track that gives me the feeling that I want to dance instantly to it in my studio.”

7. What do you think about DIT KLINGT JUT?

“I think the guys have a great concept. It’s always nice to see that people try to support music in general and the artists as well. There are so many DJs and Producers out there, especially in the House and Techno scene that it becomes harder and harder to grap peoples attention. So I’m very happy that the guys asked me to be part of this! And of course I’m very thankful for their support.”

1. How would you describe your sound?

“I would describe my sound as house with a focus on the underground. I can play both deep house and tech house in my sets depending on where I am playing and the vibe but it’s usually with a nod to the old school jackin sounds and the occasional acid house gem.”

2. Most exciting club moment?

“Would probably have to be playing the closing set in the Discoteca at Space in Ibiza after James Zabiela for his Birthday celebration. It was a huge honour to play at such a seminal club on my favourite island but also to be invited by James himself to play was a particularly proud moment and a mark of respect from such an awesome talent. Something I will never forget.”

3. Where did you learn producing?

“I was always a DJ before I was a producer. I realised quickly that producing your own tracks and creating your own unique sound was essential if I wanted to raise my profile and further my career. I started out working with others in the studio, bringing in samples and ideas. Over time learned and started to practice making tracks on my own. I was already familiar with Ableton from doing studio mixes and my own edits of tracks, so after a while I became self-sufficient. I still send my tracks off to be professionally mastered though, depending on which label signs them. To be honest I am still learning everyday. There are always new techniques and plugins to learn.”

4. Favourite track of the moment/all time?

“My favourite track at the moment is actually one of my own called ‘Precinct 13’ which has just been signed to Hector Couto’s label Roush. It’s a solid slice of old school influenced house with a large helping of rave. It’s been smashing my sets recently and also features in the mix for the site. Definitely one of my own I am particularly proud of.
My favourite track of all time is ‘New Order – Blue Monday’. It’s a seminal track that I will always list as a huge influence in my musical career and a massive source of inspiration for me personally. This track is the biggest selling 12" single of all time and when you hear it you know exactly why. The distinctive 16th note kick drum intro, programmed on an Oberheim DMX, followed by the slightly out of time sequencer melody is absolutely unmistakable and one of the most recognisable starts to a track ever known. I will never forget the first time I heard it. Truly one of the best tracks ever made and I still play it in my sets to this day.”

5. Favourite DJ Setup?

“At the moment I usually play using USB’s and 2 Pioneer CDJ 900’s or 2000’s however I also sometimes use Traktor if I need to sync to Ableton for our Spektre Live shows.”

6. Where would you love to play live?

“I’ve been an Ibiza regular since 2000 and dc10 is my favourite club in the world. It would be an absolute dream of mine to play on the terrace there. I’ve had some of my best clubbing memories in that venue. Always such an amazing vibe, and a huge source of inspiration for me musically. A true clubbing institution.”

7. Next release?

“My next release is actually a compilation CD on Straight Ahead Music. Label Manager Sascha Sonido asked me to mix the second edition of the compilation and I gladly accepted. The release feature exclusive tracks from the likes of Raffa FL, Jey Kurmis, Kreature, AS I AM, Atove, Jacky, Markomas, Lee Jeffrey and of course an exclusive original from myself called ‘Street Knowledge’”

8. What do you listen to besides electronic music?

“Mainly Royal Blood and Artic Monkeys but I also love movie soundtracks and classic film scores.”

9. What keeps you going?

“Music, Sex, Coffee, Red Bull, and the gym.”

10. What makes you laugh?

“Stand-up comedy.”

11. What you can’t stand?

“Recycled EDM and celebrity DJs.”
