PRAKATUN is an onomatopoeia that mimics the sound of rhythmic patterns and gives the name to the latest album by Brazilian artist KALOZIN, released in collaboration with Berlin's Kinship Label. The album has seven tracks that explore layered percussion and electronic experimentation, influenced by Afro-Brazilian percussion. A sampler and effects processors were used to weave together samples from various Brazilian instruments such as pandeiro, atabaque, triângulo, berimbau, agogo, cuíca, some field recordings and baile funk influences, creating a dense, forest-like soundscape. These instruments carry significant political weight, as they are commonly used in samba, capoeira, and in Afro-Brazilian religions like Candomblé and Umbanda. Those cultural expressions have faced persecution and bans in the past, and in some cases, they continue to be persecuted due to structural racism inherited from European colonizers and perpetuated by contemporary imperialist white Northern culture.

O álbum conta com sete faixas que exploram a percussão em camadas e a experimentação eletrônica, influenciadas pela percussão afro-brasileira. Um sampler e processadores de efeitos foram usados ​​para entrelaçar samples de vários instrumentos brasileiros como pandeiro, atabaque, triângulo, berimbau, agogo, cuíca, algumas gravações de campo e influências de baile funk, criando uma paisagem sonora densa e florestal. Sam PV is the founder and a resident at Pumping Velvet, a London-based Queer dance party. Sam grew up in London, his tastes moulded by the city’s diverse dance music scenes: from childhood trips to Notting Hill Carnival, to formative dancefloor experiences at nights like FWD, Trash and Süd Electronic. He brings these influences to his DJing in sets that span a broad gamut of genres, tied together by a love for big drums, pop melodies and sleaze.

"This mix is a live recording of my set from the most recent edition of Vietnam's (Re)treat festival, taking place in the beautiful location of Mai Châu. The set acted as a love letter to my wonderful queer friends and family who turned up to turn out the dancefloor while I played and features a number of queer producers who's music I hold dear <3 It opens with a patient stretch of house tunes, both new and old, before letting loose with Mexican electroclash, UKG and straight up pop bangers. I hope you have as much fun listening as I did playing!"

Pindorama X700 é o novo álbum de KALOZIN, artista multimídia brasileire Kaloan Meenochite. Neste álbum, elu explora ritmos eletrônicos contemporâneos do Brasil, como Pisadinha, Brega Funk, Arrocha, Baile Funk e Tecno Brega, desconstruindo-os para criar novas possibilidades sonoras.

KALOZIN funde ritmos brasileiros com técnicas não convencionais, criando faixas cativantes com samples cerebrais, batidas quebradas, gravações de campo e sintetizadores hipnóticos.

Suas apresentações ao vivo incluem sensores de movimento que ativam sons através de gestos, trajes exóticos ritualísticos e arranjos utilizando uma máquina de samples, um sintetizador e processadores de efeitos para criar ritmos em camadas e composições complexas.

O nome do álbum, “Pindorama,” vem da língua Tupi, uma das centenas de línguas indígenas faladas pelos povos originários do Brasil. "Pindorama" significa "terra das palmeiras" e era o nome dado ao Brasil antes da colonização.

A parte “X700” do título é uma referência tecnológica a um modelo popular de teclado usado na música eletrônica brasileira, especialmente em regiões rurais e no Nordeste. Esse teclado, com seus padrões de bateria inspirados na música local, foi uma grande inspiração para o álbum.

Juntos, "Pindorama X700" evocam uma visão de uma utopia ciber-tropical, algo como a “terra sem males”. Na mitologia Tupi-Guarani, a "terra sem males" é um lugar de abundância e lazer eternos. Onde as colheitas crescem espontaneamente, e as pessoas passam os dias dançando e celebrando, livres de trabalho e de regras sociais rigorosas. Representa uma sociedade sem trabalho, controle social ou opressão. Um lugar acessível aos vivos, onde se pode ir em corpo e alma sem precisar enfrentar a morte, um destino tangível que requer uma jornada ou migração para ser encontrado.

Em "Pindorama X700," essa visão utópica é reimaginada através da música, criando uma paisagem futurista onde tradição e inovação coexistem. O álbum também oferece uma visão crítica dos legados coloniais e celebra a resiliência e criatividade da música eletrônica sul-americana.

O álbum conta com versão digital e vinil de 12”, lançado em parceria com os selos Pampsychia, Nonlocal Research e CLAM em novembro de 2024.
