~ A bit about Dan ~
Dan Newman is a Welsh underground DJ/producer who is now based in Bristol. He is predominantly known for his eclectic sets, switching from multiple genres such as garage, house, techno, break-beat, disco, electro, jungle and ghetto house. A recurring theme within his track selection remains constant, which is high, fast-paced energy.

Dan has had his productions played on the likes of Radio 1, Rinse FM & Circoloco Radio, and was picked as 'One To Watch for 2021' by Jaguar on her BBC Radio 1 Introducing Show. Monthly residency radio shows on @projectbrand.

Hotseat Recordings are back with their 4th release. Going back to the roots of the label's first release with a stellar lineup of Irish talent which all offer unique but cohesive sounds across the four tracks. Small Bear, Jimbo Jones, and Maurice Anthony Moran (aka Tran Neptunia Orbit) have all previously featured on previous releases. High Fidelity contributed a fast paced,  raw & energetic electro track which was created for dancefloor destruction. All four tracks are a must for every DJ.

PREMIERE | Jimbo Jones - The Dharma Will Come [Hotseat Recordings] 2022

For the 164th Local Selection Mix we present a a no nonsense techno affair from Amsterdam based Decadance. The rising techno star has provided a hard techno and rave inspired hour and a half, drawing influences from the 90’s with a modern twist.

Hailing from Wicklow, Ireland, Decadance’s dissatisfaction with the monotony of rural Ireland was alleviated through experiencing central Europe’s illustrious rave scene whilst living in the Netherlands.

His productions aim to deliver hard hitting, fast paced techno whilst building cinematic atmospheres through the creation of emotional pads and energetic acid leads, often conveying feelings of euphoria and nostalgia. His fascination with other avenues of artistic output is also evident in his clever sampling of audio ranging from Plato allegories to Hunter S Thompson monologues.

His style of mixing is chaotic, aggressive & inspired by the old school tradition of transitioning tracks quickly whilst throttling the faders in the process. Having only begun producing in April 2020, he has already earned a debut label release on Otomo in addition to contributing tracks to the underground Irish scene which have been premiered by the likes of MOTZ & Techno Germany. He has also garnered support from the likes of MRD, Kobosil, Marcel Dune, Aahan, L A V E N & Vendex.

In addition to this, he is a founder & resident of Dublin based collective Thump, which prior to the virus, ran monthly parties dedicated to further broadcasting the pleasures of underground techno music.

For the 164th Local Selection Mix Decadance flexes his knowledge of the harder spectrum of techno, with flourishes of 90’s inspired hardgroove techno cuts, modern dystopian grooves and rave inspired anthems. Turn this up loud, it bangs hard.

Today we premiere a steamrolling track from formative techno producer Invexis as he makes his return to the techno mainframe, following a twenty year absence from music releases. Invexis’s landmark return to releasing music comes on SHDW & Obscure Shape’s label Mutual Rytm as he merges pinnacle old-school attitudes with present-day techniques.

SHDW & Obscure Shape‘s ethos of merging the past with the present and future, harnessing classic techno influences and shaping them into the sounds of tomorrow has sculpted a rather unique and charismatic place for home for techno through their label Mutual Rytm. The imprint has been the breeding ground for some of techno’s most exciting up and coming names, while also shedding light on some established producer’s that have been carving out the path for future generations.

Their next release welcomes a long-awaited return from Georg Köhler, aka Invexis. Known for releases such as ‘Kalibreur’ on Salpeter Records and ‘Chiffre’ on Planet Rhythm Records, with further releases via Compound and Kazumi, the German talent crafted and shaped his own sound within the techno landscape in the early 2000s. Returning with his first EP release in close to two decades, late December welcomes a return to Mutual Rytm, following on from the inclusion of his track ‘Elektronenwind’ on the label’s ‘Federation Of Rytm I’ release, as he delivers a selection of dynamic, melodic and driving techno offerings across ‘Odyssey’.

Today we premiere ‘Non Return To Zero’ a kaledsocipc look into what makes the Invexis sound so prolific, inspiring and radically idiosyncratic. This gem seems like a time machine into the early 2000’s as Invexis captures sinuous grooves like no other, the German producer grasps and hurls synthesizers with an alarming amount of urgency, yet remains eerily slick and effortlessly funky.
