When you see her sleek black bob you will know it’s going to be a good night. Let me introduce you to FEVER’s newest resident DJ, Melanie Pagani (she/they). Although her time behind the decks has been short this has zero impact on her ability to move a dancefloor. 
John Waters and a K-Mart Disco compilation seem to be where this all started. Camp, absurdity and the glamorous world of discotheque’s definitely made their mark on her persona and style as a DJ.  Growing up as a Midwest rave kid in the late 90’s Melanie discovered Chicago House and Detroit Techno. Spending many summers at Detroit's Movement Electronic Music Festival brought her priceless exposure to new music and artists. She started her vinyl collection in high school filling it with post-punk, new wave and eventually branching out to Disco, Italo, House and Techno.
As a DJ, she’s indebted to the black artists who founded Disco, House and Techno as part of the resistance against racism, homophobia, and transphobia - every notable experience with playing (and as a dancer) is only possible because of them.

Finally, @newnumbertwo aka Wallace Winfrey, one of Sorted's founders and reluctant chief resident DJ releases a mix in the Sorted Series. Recorded at the first Sorted Weekender in March 2022, this near 3-hour set was recorded to 4 tracks - a stereo feed from the mixer and a stereo feed from a Rode NT4 microphone pointed straight at the crowd, then mixed down to stereo.

"This set was a lot of fun to play, was definitely feeling it - I would get things really cranking, then would pull back because I'd imposed a misperception on myself that opening DJs really shouldn't go so hard - I needn't have worried, as Ben UFO was playing after!"

Starting with dub techno and then moving into heady garridge followed by a steady flow of breaks, techno, dubstep and UKG, newnumbertwo's set feels a lot like the typical flow at a Sorted.

"After a brief interlude that brought back memories of GQ/Kenny Ken telling people they needed to move their car (from the SR remix of Hackney Parrot), I finally got up to the end of hour three and was feeling like Digital Mystikz' Anti-War Dub was a good way to close things out given the Russians had invaded Ukraine earlier that week. Ben finally arrived at the venue (an ice blizzard had touched down that night, which made travel precarious and the party all the more vibey) and told me when he walked in and heard those bass tones, it felt like home. I dropped one more track - Rob Smith's B Line Fi Blo, and then sat on the recording for almost 2 years. I'm glad to finally put it out in the world"

Sónar Lisboa is the Portuguese strand of one of Europe's most prestigious cultural events focused on merging art, technology and music to create an immersive experience across 3 days and nights.

Today, we are gifting you with a set recorded live at the festival’s latest edition. This one, from rising local artist XEXA, is a beautiful trip into a world of afro-futurism and captivating sound design.

Príncipe Discos’ XEXA, a Lisboan with Säo Toméan ancestry, created 60 minutes of magic under the canopy at SonarPark. She crafted a unique soundscape featuring varied synthesisers and traditional wood instruments blended with field recordings and her own vocals. An essential listen for any lover of sound.
