In the past two months, we’ve all been trying to make the best of ‘stay at home’ reality. Some have started new hobbies, some have watched all of Netflix, some are doing virtual parties. Countless live streams of DJs performing are overflowing social media feeds, some of which are exceptionally good, and some well not so much. The same goes for mixes hosted on SoundCloud. These are the mixes that kept us sane throughout April. There’s a fair share of ambient and mixtapes that are more suitable for home listening (I wonder why is that the case?), but don’t think that party is over. Party will never stop! Recordings from the festivals and clubs around the world will turn your sanctuary into a dance floor almost instantly.

The French electronic music scene is ever changing, it never tends to stand still for too long. However, there are several key faces and figures who make it rather special in the sense that they continue to do their thing, unphased, unchanged over time. From this they have forged fully fledged careers, often with a special sense of expertise in style and genre.

Molly is perhaps one of the defining pioneers of this era of French musicians. 

As the founder of Récit de Voyage she has championed a wave of new producers who have taken things deeper than before, focussing on dense moody soundscapes and the tightly tuned fundamentals of dance music. Some call it minimal, some call it micro house, some call it tech house. In all honesty that doesn't matter, what it does do is captivate dancefloors through powerful, emotionally provocative energy which allows dancers to lose themselves in a transient, heads down state which is simply stunning to experience and observe. 

Molly has herself released music via the likes of Giegling, Groovement, RDV Music and Aku. She is one of the tightest dj's around and we are delighted to be able to feature her as part of this series.

K-LONE’s Cape Cira LP is one of the prettiest records you’ll hear all year in techno or any other genre. The Wisdom Teeth boss created a verdant sonic world on that album, one where rippling beats came drenched in sun-dappled atmospheres and melodies that evoked palm trees swaying in a breeze. On this exclusive mix, @k-lone93 lets us in on some of the music that inspired the record. The mix’s first half largely eschews dancefloor pulses in favour of dreamy flushes of sound - while there are some gently danceable numbers in here from the likes of DJ Python and Duckett, the entries around them emphasise new-age-inspired textures in a manner that draws a clear line to Cape Cira. We then enter a territory of coy techno and micro-house throbs, one where Jan Jelinek’s ‘Rock In The Video Age’ sets the tone, before blissing out with pure ambiences at the mix’s close. 

"This mix is a selection of cuts from my favourite albums I was listening to around the time of writing Cape Cira, mostly the sort of stuff for listening to at home rather than the club.
