It's been years since my last mix, and throughout my djing I used house music to wake people up. For this I decided to show everyone how house music ended waking me up during the Blog House era (2007-2013). I didn't include all of the hits I wanted or else it would be much longer. This mix is very personal to me because house ignited my desire to make music again. My creativity had reached a low point and this brought it back. From attending Dim Mak Tuesdays in Hollywood, seeing Steve Aoki in Long Beach for 10 bucks, to djing a festival and sold out shows, it gave my life meaning in a way I didn't know I could achieve. It also feels like the perfect time to release this as Kavinsky makes his return to LA. I remember Busy P saying in an interview that the electro of the time was Heavy Metal Disco, and I felt like it was the perfect name for this mix. I've also included some edits and mashups that I haven't played live yet. I hope when you listen to it you'll get a chance to see what I saw over a decade ago. All while doing it with a Bill Hicks attitude, love over fear.

As Random Access Memories reaches its 10th Anniversary, I want to share a remix mashup rework of Fragments of Time that I've played in my dj sets. I wanted a faster version that I can play live and it features two remixes along with the original. This is my tribute to Todd "The God" Edwards, someone that influenced me my entire dj career. I'm so happy that I've gotten to know you, and hearing you sing Face to Face makes me feel like I'm seventeen. Thank you so much for inspiring me.

A song that answers the question of my last new track, its just "Living in America!" I made this with some French touch inspired sounds. A song that's great while you're on the beach or the desert, it's a warning of what's to come as temperatures rise across the world.

Bella Novela - Darkest Hour (Itsjustaride Edit)

I call this rock mix "The Right to Live in Peace," from a song written by Victor Jara, a Chilean guitarist who was killed by the Pinochet dictatorship (imposed by the CIA backed coup). Jara was taken prisoner along with thousands of others into a Chile Stadium, where guards tortured him, smashing his hands and fingers and then told to try playing his guitar. He was then shot over 40 times and killed. It opens with a cover of The Right to Live in Peace (El Derecho de Vivir en Paz) by soprano Ayleen Jovita Romero who defies the silence curfew imposed under martial law by the government of Sebastián Piñera. This was one of the moments that helped start the uprising in Chile. The image is from the Black Lives Matter protests in Long Beach, CA on May 31, 2020 (Photo credit Instagram: gsvarley). I picked these songs because they each show a different side of what the world (and mainly America) has been doing to hurt the most vulnerable of our society through war, environmental degradation, police brutality and poverty while protecting the privileged few. I ended the set with hope that this is just the beginning of a new world, with change and justice that might bring us true peace.
