mom and dad always fighting spending nights alone,
sleepin in different rooms she didn't understand,
that her parents marriage ended before it began,
Like any other kid she thought it her fault 
that her daddy packed his bags and just took off,

If her father didn't love her, she might as well run away,

So people wouldn't be asking lizzy whats happening
She learned to live with the pain of being fatherless
she made her way into college and got a scholarship,
She dedicated her life to helping other people,
She had a heart so big no one could claim an equal.

Now lizzys up at college she's a sophomore, got her self a man she's wishin that he would talk more,
But he was there and he helped her face her fears, he'd comfort her when she cried and soaked up all of her tears,
then she woke up one morning with a swollen leg, bout as big as her heart three times the width of her head,
Her mother called the doc, rushed her to the hospital, her sister sat there cryin the site was simply phenomenal,
the doctors examined, every one of them wide eyed, the look on their face you'd think that one of the 5 died,
she had a blood clot the length of her right thigh, she went under the knife the doctors told her she might die,
her man squeezed her hand and kissed her on the cheek, told her God made you a plan and its not in the gold streets,
lizzy fully recovered and she was discharged, she never woulda thought she'd overcome somethin this large,
lizzy won the staring contest with death, she wasnt ready to leave and she fought with her last breathe, 
She had a strength that not many people have and it was born inside herself cuz it didnt come from her dad.

I wish I could say that was the end of the story,
These clouds are getting darker as the clock keeps going 
cuz those clots keep growing, and no doctors showing,
Any signs it's it's gonna stop, she's just gotta keep rowing,
Like she's in a boat going up stream,
Can she believe in God whose unseen?
Will every guy think shes unclean,
When they see the scars hiding under the jeans?
Cuz the one man she could trust, got up an he left,
Took a cab and a bus, he couldn't handle the stress,
2 years go by 30 surgeries later, 
This hole is getting deeper it's becoming a crater,
She keeps thinking to herself, who would ever love a sick girl,
Will I ever find a guy to stand by me in this world?
But she chose to stay strong and finish,
She graduated with honors her faith never diminished,
And then her best friend, decided she was the one,
He came to her one day and told her he was in love,
Then she admitted that she thought about him every day, 
She would lay awake in her bed, look to God and pray,
Then he took her by the hand, and looked her in the eyes,
He said that he would never leave her till the day that he dies,
I cant call it a happily ever after,
But she finally felt alive, and to her that's all that mattered,
