Mia Nicolai has always been an artist who challenges the idea of conventionality. At 3 years old, she defied her music teacher’s wishes of learning the repertoire and would ask for them to improv with her instead. Mia grew up in a household that didn’t listen to much music, so she found great satisfaction in creating her own, improvising melodies and lyrics until she found ones that stuck out. After 2 years of development as an artist and songwriter, Mia Nicolai released her debut single “Set Me Free” in early August 2020 and shows no signs of stopping any time soon as she lines up releases with visual accompaniment through the rest of the year.
 
A nomad at heart, Mia has spent time living in cities all over the world, including Amsterdam, London, New York City, Melbourne, and Los Angeles. Currently in Amsterdam, the city she calls home, Mia Nicolai’s world experience gives her a unique perspective on her music and writing as every city she’s been to has encouraged her to find the freedom to be herself above anything.
