Leading up to March 2020 was a decade of reckoning with our latest transformations as a global society. Canaries in the coalmine warned us of crushing austerity, global warming, inequality, and a breakdown in social dialogue due to sharp polarization. Additionally, we see a growing disconnect between mass popular movements and decision-makers. Our project aims to tackle these developments through Hip Hop, spoken word, and dance.

In this context, the last thing the world needed was a public health emergency of this scale. a silent fire seeks to put into sharp relief some of the structural vulnerabilities compromising justice in our society, much like the pandemic continues to do. Halfway between a short film and music video, the project aims to symbolize a world creaking under the weight of its past while clumsily trying to grapple with its present. The question before us: what level of priority does justice earn when the world is on fire? and who gets to decide?
