About the Mix: «This set feels very special to me. I created this mix with the intention to evoke the emotion and rawness of House grooves of the 90s and late 80s that really cannot be replicated today.I think one thing to consider as listeners/DJs of this generation when it comes to keeping the legacy of house alive, is to really do your research about these artists that came before us. So many of them did not get their proper dues, and that's across various genres, but especially for Black folks in this industry. To connect more intentionally to the music is to know whose love and labor went into creating these sounds and messages. You never know what sort of magic can happen when we seek to know these artists that maybe only had 2 or 3 releases. We might become their new audience for this generation if we seek them out and lift them up. The main thing I hope this mix does-like all mixes in the spirit of classic House-is bring you to your feet. If you're at work listening in your headphones, I hope it transports you to another place. I hope you enjoy this journey, from me to you.»

BIO:
Jersey raised, Brooklyn trained. Olivia “Liv” Minick, is a DJ, producer, educator, keyboardist, & so on…entrenched in the beating heart of Brooklyn's underground music scene. Their sonic craft spans a fusion of House, Techno, Disco, Garage, & soul music that gave way for all these pivotal elements in the evolution of Black club music. Their style is a symphonic medley that compels even the most restrained feet to move.  
To experience theoretic's fearlessly creative attitude, spend time inside their encyclopedic, yet unpretentious mixes. Their sonic odyssey breaks norms & melds genres; their goal is to be timeless.

"This track is one that bears witness to the sort of hibernation, restoration, and then finally, growth that happens coming out of the cold, winter blues season. We've witnessed tragic collective trauma these last 7-8 months as well, so this track was something I needed to share with you all because the tension and sadness I've felt is oddly transformative. With each experience, I'm blooming into newer, more nuanced versions of myself. Allow yourself to hear the tension in the song, but also the immense release."

Liz, aka Outtatime (she/they) is a Brooklyn-based DJ from Toronto. Weaving through diverse styles of underground music, you're almost sure to unearth something new during her sets. Expect percussive rhythms and experimental dance that cut through the static of mundanity.
