Dreamlike  and  longing,  creating  a  cinematic  atmosphere  of  departure:  That's  what  the  Karenz  EP  sounds  like,  rolling  in  as  if  it  was  a  morning  fog  over  the  Bosporus.  Just  like  his  home  Istanbul  is  a  melting  pot  of  cultures,  the  studio  of  Serkan  Eles  is  an  alchemical  laboratory  in  the  world  of  music.  Using  a  slowly  but  powerfully  heaving  current  of  beats  and  bass  to  create  momentum,  he  adds  the  sound  of  instruments  and  voices  that  transport  a  deep,  oriental  mindset  into  the  consciousness  of  the  listener.  Also  there's  sounds  that  have  probably  been  recorded  on  a  spaceship  orbiting  planet  Earth.  In  this  way  he  creates  a  very  subtle  and  delicate  form  of  psychedelia  –  and  that  again  is  what  Timboletti  extracts  for  his  remix,  capturing  it  in  the  close-meshed  net  of  his  unmistakable  groove.

Tebra’s EP is a story that unwinds on the shaded paths of the ‘Gora’ - a poetic Serbian term for forest. Beaming through the trees in dense brush strokes, we see sunlight and hear an enchanting fusion of acoustic and electronic guitars that mingle, coil, and unravel together like rich tree roots. Other instrumental compositions in the originals and remixes - arranged with the duduk, flutes, synths, santur and saz - punctuate this story with mystery and history.

Deep in the woods, leaves rustle and branches shoot upwards to the vocals performed by Terba’s younger sister, Jovana Jaric. The words she sings come from an old Serbian folklore song, telling the tale of a girl who enters the forest heartbroken and comes out of it cured, and complete. 

The tableau of nature and enigma is completed by remixers Sander and multi-instrumentalist Stephane Salerno, Valeron and Dizharmonia, who push the story deeper and bring fertile emotion to light.

After the energy of the last beat accelerated you and before you end up in the magnetic force field of the next beat, you find yourself in a weightless state of flight. The more space there is between two beats, the longer it lasts. While you are enjoying this very special state of flight your senses are wide open for all the atmosphere and audible beauty that flow through the cleared-out rhythms. The tracks Sunrise and Sunset by MI.LA are two perfect examples for this magic. The subtle trancy vibes and the warm melodies of these tunes set the keynote for the EP. The pad-heavy departure of Dolph, the slo-mo ecstasy of Herrhausen & Treindl and the understated bang of Timboletti complete the two original tracks as if they were alternative endings for the same story.

The "Fly Like An Eagle" Remix EP is a reflection of letting go and allowing space for loved ones lost the freedom to transition into the next faze of existence. Thea, recorded and performed her beautiful version of the traditional medicine song of Native American roots in memory of a friend dear to her heart who recently passed.

The remixers on the release created their own interpretation of Thea's beautiful rendition of "Fly Like An Eagle."

San Miguel reflected into his own life experiences relating with this topic, creating his beautiful and driving signature sound that so many around the world have come to love.

Binder offers his interpretation diving deep into his personal journey over the past few years of just how fragile life is, presenting a soothing and deep version.

Thea, coming from a a background of being a traditional singer songwriter presents her electronica feel infused with organic beats is her very first remix released to the public, a making it clear that her gift of song goes well beyond her talent of a multi-instrumentalist and singer. As she steps into role as music producer as well, we are excited to see her musical journey touches many.

Swept away by Zigan Aldi. The ‘Odin’ EP brews with Souq Record’s traditional smoky desert flavours, evoked by Eastern instruments meeting electronica. Yet The EP is quick to cut through expectations and take a resolutely urban, robust direction: moody takeoffs, low rumbling vocals, a guitar’s singing electricity, heady bass-lines, and enveloping darkness. Odin flirts with melodic techno but never fully gives in to its calls, riding the tension between organic and electric.

Zigan Aldi debuts on Souq with this statement EP, infused with his two homes of Eastern Turkey and Berlin. His atmospheric narrative is three part: Odin rises, Heppnar strikes, Desert Hills simmers down. Three smouldering remixes by Iorie, Zuma Dionys and Namito land the story on softer tracks, completing the picture with elegance.
