Ludwik Zamenhof is a one-man musical project and the alter ego of Polish-based producer Andrzej. The music on his new album, Balkan Error, is created using a mandolin and a computer. All recordings and samples are destroyed and deconstructed. Ludwik Zamenhof is inspired by Bulgarian, Polish, Balkan, Indian and Syrian music. Folk and Ethno samples are mixed with new electronic music such as Dubstep, Drum and Bass, IDM, Breakcore and Glitch Music.

Brooklyn-native Esseks delivers the full length “Bad Cartoons”, his second album this year via Gravitas Music, for free/pay-what-you-want download. After a previous collaborative release on Gravitas with the king of weird, Space Jesus, Esseks’ personal style has ample room to flex this time around on each of the nine tracks. The old school hip hop influences are obvious throughout; the swing of each beat drips with classic style, mixing flawlessly with twisted melodies and rolling bass. Apart from being a talented musician and beat-smith, Esseks also created the cover art as well as a PDF booklet of “bad cartoon” illustrations included with each album download.

“On The Dial” kicks the release off with a quick pace and experimental percussion. Called “equally silly and melancholy” by The Untz, “Overrated” shows us the more fun side of Esseks’ songwriting. The title track hit hards and fast, focusing on a multi octave, diminished progression. Like the name suggests, “Bowzer” does elicit nostalgia for the video games of yesterday, albeit in somewhat of a creepy yet psychedelic fashion. “If I Could” demonstrates the artists’ more loungey sensibilities, with “Yougotme” following closely behind with a chopped vocals and a smooth bassline.

Itsu creates complex, forward-thinking drum and bass with a foundation in detailed, multi-layered sound design and a distinct science-fiction vibe. Spanning deep and moody halftime to metal-influenced, all out, neurofunk head-bangers, Itsu's music transcends the traditional borders of drum and bass. 

After cutting his teeth on a range of lower tempo bass music genres over the course of five EP’s released between 2012 and 2015 on labels such as Merkaba Music and Hopskotch Records, Itsu has returned to the genre that brought him to electronic music production in the first place, and has earned a reputation as something of a sound design and production pundit, as well as a consummate performer. With a steadfast refusal to conform to the DnB norm of “build, drop, rewind, build, double-drop” Dj sets that feature only a couple of original tracks, Itsu takes audiences on a journey through the flavours of drum and bass using live performance techniques and controllerism, and has a track record for setting dance floors on fire with a constantly evolving live show that never plays out the same way twice.

After four years of live performances on Australian festival circuit and countless club shows across the east coast, Itsu embarked on his first North American tour in 2015, with seven shows across five weeks, in three states. Since returning to Australia, Itsu has been locked in the studio exploring the worlds of modular synthesisers and DSP programming in the Kyma environment, and preparing his next body of work, with two DnB releases and one experimental, cinematic IDM release due in late 2016 and early 2017.
