The river of Aleyrac is the river along which La Vallée Électrique festival is located. I used to play there when I was a child. Some monks had built the priory of Aleyrac on the source of this river.
Water can be seen rising from the ground inside the ruins of this little church. At that time, the river was said to be sacred and its water could heal.

As one chapter closes, another opens. Following the passing of group member J.Derwort in 2019, Hanyo van Oosterom’s legacy work brings about the next evolution of the Chi project: Son of Chi. AI-25 sees subtle developments in the sound and expansion of tonal vocabulary, whilst retaining the organic instrumentation and rapturous dreamtime narratives. Flourishes of piano float elegantly with poise, and long-drawn flutes breathe life into the shifting landscape. Shadows play in the thick vegetal overgrowth, the air is heavy with the scent of age-old evocations. Speakers drift in and out of undulating reverie, forgotten transmissions from the repository of consciousness. Against the wide backdrop of the harsh and wild unknown, a feeling of peace resides within. Night and day gradually collapse into one another, as loops of lapping textures glisten quietly with mystical beauty.

My name is Alec Hamilton. I run pleasure gallery which is mix series and radio show. I also put on music nights here in Bristol, UK. 

> q. is there a story behind the mix?

I wanted to make something quite tender and introspective. I chose tracks that I’ve spent time thinking, wandering and musing to since I first got into electronic music. I’m a big chess nerd and recently watched an old documentary about Garry Kasparov, former world chess champion. I enjoyed how it explores the theme of human vs machine, so I thought I’d throw in some excerpts from it for some extra spice. 

> q. what's the best way to enjoy your mix?

I think it suits time alone, a long journey to see old friends or a lazy Sunday. 

> q. describe a favourite object in your living room...

My friend bought me a signed photo of Jason Statham as a housewarming present. It's so ridiculous but I love it, probably the weirdest gift I’ll ever receive, creates a lot of laughs. 

> q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?

I held my first pleasure gallery event a few weeks ago and I’m looking forward to hosting more of those.

i thought it important to stay true to the emotions that birthed seed. so the first one is from me 

i found this process very difficult, got stuck in the headspace of wanting to make it a good ‘mix’ but it just not working while staying true to these feelings. and i realised that it’s not meant to be make sense, feeling these emotions simultaneously is jarring, it’s abrupt highs and lows, it’s stop and start, it’s silence. cold and warm. it’s the complete disruption of flow following slight cohesion- conflicting. it’s disrupted diversions into altering soundscapes

i had a go at this a few times, and this version was my last attempt. i cried the whole way through and it was on that very spicy full moon, it’s raw- but it’s honest

𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘅
This mix explores weird and experimental drum patterns. I wanted to create a journey through dark and weird rhythms that challenge the usual beat structures and that typically characterise my DJ sets. The drums are always different, sometimes off the beaten path, creating varied dynamics—moments that are upbeat as well as static, trippy moments—giving the entire set a mysterious and intense atmosphere. In my DJ sets, I like to bring together all the music and genres that have influenced and shaped my musical path over time.

I was lucky to grow up in a family where music has always been a priority. I’m grateful to my parents for passing down this passion to me. My first approach to music was through acoustic drums—my father is a drummer and my mother took singing lessons. For me, playing drums was a moment of freedom, a way to vent, but also a love-hate relationship. I remember that at some point, I couldn’t express myself the way I wanted or with the people I wanted. 
Over the years, I got closer to the clubs in my area, and my love for the DJ figure was immediate. For several years, I lived in Puglia, my hometown, where I took my first steps as a DJ. Those were beautiful years, full of learning and hard work and research, all to start playing in clubs and illegal parties eheh

𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲?
Right now, I think the music scene in Milan is one of the most prolific and solid in Europe. There are so many high-level artists, each with their own background and unique sound. Moving here was a turning point for me since the beginning, I’ve felt motivated and inspired by all the artists I’ve connected with. I believe growing in an environment where the scene is this strong and innovative is essential for any artist.
That said, one of the biggest issues in the city right now is the lack of spaces to play, perform, and organize parties. Prices are also insanely high, which makes it really hard to access and self-fund events. What we’re doing is a form of resistance..we have a mission, and we need to keep it alive.

What began as a sound piece created to accompany an alien-themed art exhibit in Philadelphia quickly evolved into something far more expansive before making its debut at the show. “sounds from an otherworldly place” is a sonic odyssey: a story of interstellar exploration and transformation told in five acts across space and time.

On this radical departure from her usual style, Mazy showcases her versatility by pushing the boundaries of her own craft. Experiments in sound design, synthesis, and field recording coalesce into haunting atmospheres and emotionally rich ambient worlds.

What emerges is both cosmic and intimate: a meditation on fear and fascination with the unknown.
