He is indeed correct, a Bassdrum doesn’t always have to be there. “Azul Magico” is a soundtrack, plenty of groove but without a kick, dense and warm, atmospheric and slightly ominous, funky and still elegish. Who knows what great things could come if Minimal would forget about the Kickdrum for a few month. Forget is the correct word in this case, because it could also just be there. But this way is more suspenseful.
