For The Love Of Music

I was just starting to dust off gear and started going to my boy's house to play some of his golden era crates on his serato set up. First time working on code vinyl and I was having a good time trying to figure things out.  I was just getting used to the mixer and practicing some scratches that he was MUCH better at when one of my friends told me he was running the NYC marathon. I felt like that would give me a chance to record for the first time in a LONG time so I told him I'd whip up a mix for a part of his run. This thing was recorded on an old AKAI digital recorder, then burned and uploaded for my boy to download. I lost the original recording and just ran this through audacity with some help from Scott Maison and here it is. Raw and uncut...my tribute to NY hip hop, recorded in 2017with excitement and love for the sounds that raised me. Tracks from Brand Nubian, Nas, Black Moon, AfuRa, DiamondD, Gangstarr,the mighty De La Soul and I had to sneak in a little west coast rhyming from The Pharcyde among others. Enjoy!

The Joy

Time for new music!  Two tracks on my upcoming SheweyTrax and Buena Gente Recordings release are on this mix. I actually start the mix with High Life by Delicate Instruments and then around the 24min mark is my track, Exceed, Track1 on Side A of the forthcoming release. Also included are some tracks from years back that just stand the test of time. From 1997 (then revived by @sublevel – the @Docmartin imprint) is the classic No Ears Dub Debut playing behind one of my favorite tracks from 1994 on the now defunct Kaos/Tribal America labels – Dance With Me by the Underground Sound of Lisbon(@RuidaSilva) . Also included is a track I remembered suddenly from Gene Farris – 2015’s Chicago Song, that is just underground gold! I reached back, dug deep and really poured it into this one. Enjoy the mix, I really loved spinning this one!

If you have to pick one mix to know me by… Two of my favorites are always pinned. SOUND OFF is a favorite because it features a couple of my tracks. THE PRESTIGE is one I’m really proud of also because it draws from my rich collection of vinyl and digis, but each set has its own vibe to feel as you listen and indulge in dance. 
I play on an assortment of devices. From the Numark Dj2go2 to my cdj 900nxs +Techics 1200s +my A&H Xone  43 mixer rig, to the Pioneer ddj FLX-6. It doesn’t matter the gear. It only matters what you bring to it. The music is the catalyst.
