Commissioned by the experimental music collective Nova Música Eletroacústica (NME) for their recently released album NMEchá#2, unwinding tensions is inspired by the sencha tea. 

In Japan, sencha is the most consumed form of tea. It is also often served when welcoming guests at one's home, as a way of relieving the tensions of the travel.

Afro Hooligans (feat. Ivan Chiarelli) – Drive

Percussion octet, inspired by the short story "The tale of the curse of Alzioth", by Moebius, Randy Lofficier, and Eric Shannower.

The story tells of Flore, a woman who drowns in the river Alzioth while washing her infant's clothes. Rescued by Cessair, an old guardian of spirits, she tells how she cursed the Gods on the very moment of her death, and how she was saved by Alzioth incarnated, accepting to feed the river spirit's son in exchange for her own life and the promise that the river would not attack the world of men. However, while Flore believed to have spent only a few minutes in the river, seven years had passed since the incident. She and her now grown son did not recognize each other. On the day after she was rescued, Flore repeats the same actions that led to her drowning years ago. Performing a ritual of repentance, Cessair releases the woman's soul from Alzioth's curse, which would have compelled her to throw herself in those waters again and again. Freed from the spell, mother and son hug each other and return home, while the spirit guardian performs a banishing ritual upon the riverbed and dies on the shores. Alternating soundscape and musical narrative, and based on leitmotivs created for each character, the piece develops on the form of a Noh play, altering moments of sound abstraction and realism, proposing a listening such as a story without words. The Noh form has the following sections: introduction; secondary character introduction (Cessair); main character introduction (Flore); first plot development; villain introduction (Alzioth); second plot development; confrontation; and finale. The introduction defines the place and psychological context of the piece; the secondary character introduction sets the plot and leads to the introduction of the main character. The relation between both characters is furthered until the introduction of the villain, where the confrontations between characters are deepened until the showdown defines the moral behind the story, elated on the finale. The intra- and extra-thematic motivic relations are explored to enhance the story's plot, and the notes common to two themes are used as connective element when two characters interact, exploring a free, motivic serialism.

• Meera Vijayann, Indian independent journalist covering gender-based violence and social entrepreneurship, who holds the position of communications manager and co-coordinator at Ashoka, Arlington, Virginia, USA and Youth Ambassador for India with Youth to End Social Violence in Conflict.

the wind has its reasons (2017-18)

Brazilian born composer, producer and performer based in Berlin. My work has roots in soundscape and musical narrative, and currently my research is focused on silence. I hold a Masters degree in Music Analysis from the São Paulo State University, and have been a fellow at the 2017 Delian Academy for New Music.

A composer awarded at the 3rd Gilberto Mendes composition contest (Festival Música Nova, Brazil 2008), my works have been performed by the Alter Ego Ensemble, Bera Romairone, Grupo PIAP, Orquestra Sinfônica de Santos, Leonardo Labrada, and Augusto Moralez, among others.  I write music for concert performance, site-specific sound installations, theater and audiovisual media, also having collaborated with artists Juliana Notari, Carol Neumann, and Flavia Mielnik, among others. 

I'm a co-founder of the sonic art collective invisibili(cidades), and frequently collaborate with the NME (Nova Música Eletroacústica). As a performer – electric bass, computer processing, and a variety of instruments from piano to percussion – I've played with Mauricio Takara (Hurtmold, M. Takara), Gregor Siedl and Lan Cao (Parallel Asteroid), Richard Ribeiro (Porto), Bruno Gold (Baoba Stereo Club), Felinto (Afro Hooligans, Noala), Beto Mejía (Móveis Coloniais de Acaju), Eddu Ferreira (Cosmogum), Tiago de Mello, and Julia Teles among others.
