First up, ‘Into The Light’ marches forward with cavernous kicks, echoing vocal samples and an
intricate hook, before ‘Showtime’ delivers a thunderous low-end joined by shuffling hats and twisted
sounds.  Things get rhythmic in ‘Throwin’ Down’ with syncopated percussion and punchy snares,
until Sable Sheep, who’s known for releases on Moon Harbour and Desolat, alters the
title track with his signature trippy synths and imaginative drum work.

Fresh off the back of his killer “Dawn Till Dusk” release on Mobilee and fast approaching his set for Nic Fanciulli’s A Decade of Saved party in London on November 7th, Ross Evans delivers a highly intense and groovy workout on his Super Skank EP. A longstanding and integral part of the Saved family unit, Evans taps into the imprint’s distinctly underground ethos by engaging with an acutely heady and hypnotic aesthetic throughout his two tracks.

It is the dark, brooding energy that bristles away at the heart of “Super Skank” that immediately injects the intensity that pervades throughout this entire EP. Forged by surges of deep bass, hypnotic FX and heady, druggy grooves that swell and thicken throughout, “Super Skank” is a burning, heads-down tech cut that throbs with real vigor.

“Fade To Black” has a tougher, more direct edge but is once again dominated by the bottom end. Powered by the undercurrent of wobbling, scurrying bass that crawls beneath swirling electronics and tightly woven, sharp rhythms, the track drives forward with unruly momentum.

Party starting Spanish producer Cuartero turns up the tempo and ramps up the heat with his remix of “Super Skank.” Piling plenty of swing and drive into his bassline, his remix is a pacier and more thumping adaptation. Robust 4/4s push that tempo as almost jazz-influenced synth scratches flash over the top to add yet more personality.

Saved Records welcome French DJ, producer and all-round club aficionado Timid Boy into the fray with his subtle yet brilliant distinctive EP. Test Test EP sees him settling into the kind of bass-driven, underground focused techno sound that he reveled in as resident for Rex club in Paris.

A simple but addictive bassline provides the backbone to “Test Test” a track that ebbs and flows with fluid progression. Working a lush groove into the mix, Timid Boy creates a bottom end full of depth and personality. Punchy drums and clicking percussion bring a purposeful tempo without detracting any of the track’s personality or charm.

“I can Do It” is an altogether more frenetic cut. Rapid-fire rhythms permeate the upper crust as a jagged bassline ploughs along below. Driven by rolling bass and flickering FX, the track chugs away with relentless energy and unshifting confidence.

Moving into highly hypnotic and almost surreal textures with “The Girl” we are sucked further into the subterranean soundscape of timid boy. Subtle melodic flickers sketch over the pulsating drive of the track, interplaying perfectly with the enigmatic vocals from French singer-songwriter and actor Arnaud Lellouche, aka Arno Joey. Showing a deft ability for escalating the intensity without blowing the top off, Timid Boy finds a wonderfully unique way to round off his highly impressive EP.

“Burton” is a deep, brooding burner built on a monstrous Reese-style baseline and topped off with moody triple-time synths, detuned sweeps and some trippy arps; imagine Schatrax “Mispent Years” remixed by Nick Curly and you’re getting a good idea of what this is about.

The Fortyseven remix goes a greater distance and gives the original mix a cold, afterhourish flavour. Steve Lawler makes his debut on Hector Couto’s thriving Roush imprint to kick off 2017, with both Couto and Spanish talent Cuartero providing two stellar remixes.
2016 has seen Hector Couto’s Roush take a firm hold within the world of house, with releases from industry heavyweights including the likes of DJ W!ld, Steve Rachmad, Santé, Neverdogs, DJ T. and more this year alone. Next up is VIVa boss Steve Lawler, who finally releases ‘People Having Sex’ as his first offering on the label.
“I’m very happy to now release this track. I made it a couple of years ago around the time I made ‘House Record’ that was eventually released on Hot Creations. I was experimenting with my old Roland machines, trying to re-create a sound that I was aware of in the late 80’s. This track ‘People Having Sex’ was never sent out to anyone at the time and just kept it for my DJ sets. Now 2 years on, and under the desire of many people asking what this track is throughout all of this summer, I have decided to release it and where better than Hector Couto’s House label Roush” - Steve Lawler
Lawler’s original opens up the EP in fine style, revealing ever-evolving 303 lines, mischievous vocals, 808 claps and precise percussion patterns that combine to combine unearth a record unquestionably intended for the dancefloor. Next up, Roush boss Hector Couto’s interpretation firmly places its emphasis on percussion, with a driving low-slung groove and rugged drum licks guiding the production into an energy-fuelled workout across five and a half minutes.
Lastly, Cuartero’s remix shapes up the package by utilising the original’s playful vocal over a bubbling lead line whilst a series of glitches and pops ebb and flow amongst shuffling hats in the background, rounding out yet another impressive package from the team at Roush.
