After years of contemplation, I have devoted significant effort to the concept of creating music conducive to sleep. One particular evening, while listening to side D of Roger Waters' vinyl album "The Dark Side of the Moon Redux," I experienced a moment of inspiration that sparked the genesis of a new project.

During the recording sessions of their iconic album "The Dark Side of the Moon" in 1972, Pink Floyd engaged in a unique practice. They ventured into the surrounding community and engaged ordinary individuals in conversations regarding existential questions. The responses gathered were subsequently integrated throughout the entirety of the studio album.

My creative instinct led me to invert this approach. Drawing upon the voice of the visionary Roger Waters, I incorporated it throughout a completely improvised recording of modern classical music. My aim was to cultivate something unconventional, profound, and authentic, devoid of conventional patterns or preconceptions. Viewing life through the lens of a tree's perspective, I sought to blur the distinction between noise and melody, reflecting the receptivity inherent in both. Observing the world outside my window pulsating with its own imperfections—traffic sounds, notifications, and aircraft—I endeavored to encapsulate the essence of our environment in musical form, while honoring the elegant architecture of a tree.

Subsequently, I have found solace in listening to this recording during my morning meditations, noticing a significant enhancement in my ability to concentrate, with my average focus time extending from 20 to nearly 45 minutes. This inaugural installment marks the commencement of a series of recordings aimed at exploring emerging contemporary classical artists, synthesizing acoustic and electronic compositions. Personally, I regard this endeavor as my most ambitious and accomplished recording to date.

The initial seven minutes of silence serve as a deliberate safeguard, preserving the essence of the tree from those who may not appreciate its beauty. Every element within the composition unfolds with purpose, urging patience and encouraging listeners to surrender to the natural flow of the music.

Ivan Minuti - L'Aperitivan No.14

On the 31st of July, we will close a 10-year chapter at the beloved Sky Gardens in DIFC to move on to a new, beautiful chapter called Quietude. This emotional live-recorded DJ set is a retrospective of the releases from 2014 to 2024 that I played the most. It was impossible to include over 2000 DJ sets in just 2 hours, but as we evolved along with the music trends in club culture, I wanted to pay tribute to all the music genres we explored as DJs, as a talent agency, and as lovers of music. This is a love letter to my future self, to never forget where we came from.

The great gig at Sky Gardens was recorded live at the Guild DIFC on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, the last night I walked back into Sky Gardens after a gig.

Started in 2012 and now at the 23rd chapter, the session goal has always been to connect two type of worlds: the introspective one of  daydreamers and the nocturnal darkness of the nightclubbing.

What to say about more than 24 compilation in less than 5 years to describe this music journey? Maybe.. that I am glad how I keeping evolving from music genres to subgenres, in a constant evolution in terms of beauty. M.A.D. is still something you can listen right after the twilight or with the first rays of morning sun, in delightful circle looping itself from day to the night and back, like the cover art inspiring each of these recordings. In the illusion of the time-space dimension, music keeps change as the spectrum of the sunlight. So better wait for the night, to admire and be surprised by these radiant shades of darkness.
