Working as a visual artist and writer, Puck Schot once felt the need to express a more masculine voice within her poetry. Curious towards electronic music, she started making experiments around 2019 with the Korg MS-20, poetry on violence and distorted drum samples as Acidic Male. In that same year she started collaborating with RJM Vanderheyden as 'Vot'ress' as well, combining harsh noise with nature sounds and Shakespearean texts. Since then, she has a high interest in industrial sounds, hypnotic drum patterns and experimental vocals. Having her performer name as a revenge title, she searches to “other” herself into the position of a manipulator, perpetrating the listener through the duality of softness and harshness within violent sounds and poetry. Yet, typically what is left is merely a penetration of herself as the subject, exposing her confessions, memories and hauntologies. She is simply ripping in two, in front of an audience.

about the release
Titled after her place of birth, Deceased in Rotterdam provides autobiographical catharsis and grievance towards Acidic Male's past selves. Including extracted sounds from early childhood VHS home-tapes, field recordings and pubescent yells of rage, the viewer is left with sounds depicting the artist’s remains of physicality. The songs are written in a state of isolated self-reflection and through mourning over the past of her growing female body, seeking calmness in ageing yet fearing her own decomposition.

This is Acidic Male's debut EP.

A follow up to his ‘Downtown’ release on Bristol Normcore in 2022, This no-holes-barred, raw EP full of debauchery and bane stands fast as a praxis against the rotting establishment.

For its final release of the season, Bella Ursa is proud to unveil a new series dedicated to the unearthing of undisclosed material: The Memories Series. For this first opus, Ostalgie delved into his almost-forgotten hard-drive content to create a delicate litany stemming from ethereal jam sessions, circa 2015 to 2020. 

‘Discordant Memories’ is an ode to all the neglected, barely loved, or lost music. All tracks have been collected to offer a new perspective and rekindle distant memories. Whether birthed in his parent’s basement or at some friend’s place, it recalls moments of pure bliss, turbulent chaos, or meditative solitude that inspired this romantic soul to infuse his own blend of electronic melancholia. 

It will be released on all digital platforms, along with a custom CD designed by Raphael Ott (AKA Itako).

Few words from the artist :

This album retraces a path of life, compiles emotions, and sets the rhythm of memories. Music has accompanied me everywhere I have been and has never left me. The tracks you are about to hear are raw, they were never meant to be finished. They were born out of creative impulses and spontaneous jams, made in a sober state of mind or not.
 
Recorded in my parents' basement, in friends’ apartments, during a lockdown, during depressions or euphorias. They are the forgotten ones, the unloved ones, the ugly ones, the drafts, the distorted ones, the imperfect ones. I wanted to give them an existence and a purpose so that they could find an appreciative ear.
 
Some were made with more or less equipment; analog has always been my thing. I can't make artificial music. I want to thank Denis for the idea of this project, Raphaël for the artistic direction, my mother Joëlle for the cover photo, as well as everyone who follows me or supports me on a daily basis.

Like a living cosmic anomaly, always on the lookout for the unexpected, the Bella Ursa mothership yearns for the Beyond. Bringing aboard like-minded individuals at each step of the way, it’s constantly moving closer to its destination.

Having started out as a passion project by jack-of-all-sonic-trades Letherique in early 2020, right around the time the world fell apart, Bella Ursa hopes to escape Earth’s velocity in pursuit of new, uncharted horizons. Ever ready to embrace new things, it soon started to offer unusual and carefully-crafted collector items with a strong penchant for DIY in order to host an enthusiastically curated selection of electronic oddities.

Fashion Flesh, the solo-output moniker of experimental electronics pioneer John Talaga, mutates onto Dead Channel with this fully analog, titan of a seven tracker.

Atomic-age western meets flying saucer minimal-wave, in this absolute howler. Hand crafted, heavily modified electronics, built by Talaga himself, mangle 50's death rays, fuzzed-out alien lasers, and primitive mechanized robotics, swaying in perfect unison with dusty, wind-swept guitars, sludgy whistling vocals, and rich delay in a symphony of old west psychedelia. So saddle up and hit the trail with a 10 strip in your pocket, a ray-gun at your hip, and ride off into the psychotropic sunset before the fallout blows your way.
