with those same eyes,  
those steps of lead,  
pain in the heart
question in the head

Whose country is this,  
after all this fire?  
Whose land remains  
when children retire  
their grief for an answer  
no land can hold—  
no homeland,  
no exile,  
no story retold—  
their wound passed down  
like language, like breath,  
their life a silence,  
mistaken for death.


Maybe the boy  
will live to teach—  
how flesh once felt  
inside a bag,  
or how the voices we promised  
went still, went black.  
But even he  
will have no reply  
to someone so far,  
still asking  
why.

No breath,  
no cry,  
just hands  
and eyes  
still reaching  
for what  
survives.

We knew right away that we wanted to play around with this mix. It's very haunting and soulful all at once. The baseline carries it through these realms rather smoothly. Leonard's spoken word over his crooning back up vocalists harkens back to Lou Reed's "Walk on The Wild Side."
