Claptone was one of the first names on the list of people we wanted to remix Romanthony. Amazingly, right at the beginning of the whole project he agreed. But for some reason or another, it just didn't work out. Each time we put together a new remix package, we would check and see if he was available and each time something meant it couldn't happen. Either the track didn't work for him or he was too busy. It looked for a while like we weren't going to get our man. 

Finally, late last year, we sent him the Floorpiece acappella and that was it. Something clicked and he delivered this MONSTER of a remix.

Like Schatrax's "Mispent Years" or Inner City's "Ahnonghay", this is underground house music at its very best. Heavy garage beats, a dark'n'moody bassline and some killer keys underpin Romanthony's unmistakable story about his Dj-ing experience. Get ready Miami, Ibiza and beyond, this is a future anthem for sure.

It's been a big summer for Raffa FL. Festival DJs like Eats Everything and Richy Ahmed have been caning his tunes, both his outings on GU stayed in the tech house 100 for weeks and he has releases lined up for Avotre, Lost and Hot Since 82's Knee Deep in Sound. 

And of course, he's had huge support from Marco Carola. If you've been at Amnesia this summer for Music On, you'll be well aware of his large remix of Wender A. & Rods Novaes' "Esculacho" (although try saying that after a large night out on the White Isle). And to top it all his new EP for GU is a stone-cold killer. "Envious" kicks things off with Raffa doing what he does best, a funky-as-hell bass-heavy house jam, the kind of thing Nile Rodgers & Bernie Edwards might have made if they'd had a moog, a bunch of pills and a night out at the Sub Club instead of what had at Studio 54. "Narciso" is up next and I love it. It's my favourite cut on this EP because it shows a house guy that's not afraid to show some progressive and techno roots. Not that this is some Sasha-and-Digweed-in-the-90s homage. No, this is straight up techno, but with triply electronics in a Gemini / Joe Lewis / Relief Records style. Lastly, "Incenso" finishes things off with a another space-heavy groove that sounds like Todd Terry sampling the "Risky Business" soundtrack.

As with AEON 18 Alex Niggemann steps up with another landmark voyage into the realms of me- lodic, deep techno, delivering two tracks with a sound that defines a very popular and relevant style. Fresh off the back of his ‘Snake Skin’ EP on Avotre, Leeds-based DJ & Producer, Josh Butler, is back again with a dark, club-ready remix of Vidaloca & Piem’s ‘Lullaby.’ Another master class from the UK producer, the remix is out now on Leftwing & Kody’s Lost Records and is available to stream below.

Stripping back the original, Josh focuses on a swelling, sub-bass groove accentuated by signature percussion that methodically slices through the composition. The heavy reverberating claps and syncopated hats form the backbone of the track, endowing it with a commanding tone as Josh once again proves his ability to create a perfectly balanced soundscape. The finished product is sublime – a primal cut, warm and full, rendered with marked precision. With the raw industrial tone of the track specifically geared for the dance-floor, the remix will no doubt see huge airtime across the club circuit. Josh’s remix of ‘Lullaby’ features alongside a Max Chapman remix of the B-side ‘Sturdiness’ on Vidaloca & Piem’s ‘Lullaby’ EP.
