Berlin-based, Franco-German producer and DJ Franz Matthews, alongside well-known happiness coach Jonathan Lehmann, have crafted a thumping, hypnotic EP that combines music and the practice of guided meditation as one.

We’ve collated remixes from a spread of some of the greatest minds in electronic music today, including Aera, The Organism and Milio, to create their unique interpretations of this pioneering project of mind and music.

Franz Matthews’s original brings a complex web of interlocking percussion rhythms that develop with unfolding synths throughout the guided meditation to reach a soul-shaking climax. Transporting us on a journey through the mind with a captivating piece of musical storytelling throughout.

Aera steps up with the first remix, carving out a spacious story that casts the spotlight onto the spoken word vocals from Lehman, combining elegant rhythms with contrasting layers of subtle harmonic movement and mind-altering synth melodies that engage the inner recesses of the brain.

The Organism takes things into a more aggressive, percussive direction, using his archetypal sound to traverse across the planes of your mind. Off-kilter synth tones collide across a punchy Moog style bassline and grooving disco-tinged drum machine grooves underneath.

Finally, Milio brings his distinctive club sounds to the blend. Mixing glitching rhythms with wandering melody lines that integrate elements of minimalism and techno into a joyous and playful reworking. Milio’s distinct ability to craft memorable lines that are equally unique and quirky closes this superb remix package off with finesse.

AGORIA Ft. NINO DE ELCHE - WHAT IF EARTH WOULD TURN FASTER - DAMIAN LAZARUS RE - SHAPE

After Volume 5 of our Various Artist series „Lost Tapes“, AEON continues with a strong EP from family member, Jepe. The Portuguese born, Berlin living DJ & producer returns with „Ginevra“, after his well received debut EP „Restless Soul“ in 2020.
Ginevra... a queen, woman and a city. Jepe says: „The track is somehow an Ode to Europe women and the beauty of the city“, to which he traveled to with his wife and daughter. „The arpeggio and the strings bring you back to the XVI century of classical music“, he claims, „while the break and its synth take you to the modern and technologic part of the city." 
Transcord - the secret A-side - of this diverse EP brings back 80ies/Italo influenced sound, though with a modern feel. For this track, Jepe teamed up with his mate Joal. The strong synthesizer sequence - slowly building up by layering more and more Oscillators - set the fundament for this grooving Dancefloor beast, while chopped vocals and chords gives this tune the last polish to be a weapon.
The EP is closed with „Salicornia“. The track is named after a plant that grows on salty waters. Same as the plant the tune is flowing in a more calm, but not less affective way. Different than „Ginevra“ & Transcord“ it has a more mystic vibe, diving in deeper areas of your soul, letting you float between the moods of mornings at the end of a club night.

trueColors is a deep and melodic record label that releases organic house with enchanting melodies and its new release features an original track by imprint favourite Inámo.

Alongside Inámo's original, the seven-track release also includes remixes by Super Flu, Vander and Sasha Carassi, plus three alternative versions produced by Inámo himself.

Deeply rooted in the nightlife of America's New York City as a local DJ, promoter and music director, Inámo is a producer whose output has been focused towards the esteemed record labels Earthly Delights and trueColors.

The release features the original mix of "La Llama" plus three alternative remixes all produced by Inámo to express a different mood, energy and atmosphere. It also features the vocals of Spanish singer Niña Indigo who dreamed up the lyrics while meditating.

Super Flu also provide a remix in the melodic style they have championed via their own record label Monaberry, plus other highly respected imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, Stil Vor Talent and Embassy One.

Sasha Carassi first made a name for himself as a techno producer working with the likes of Drumcode, but over the last few years his sound has evolved to get deeper and more melodic. His enchanting melodic remix of La Llama showcases the style that he has recently released via the likes of Solomun's Diynamic and John Digweed's Bedrock.

Vander is an exciting up-and-coming talent who has been making waves on the indie dance and organic house scene with his spellbinding releases on the likes of Pipe & Pochet, A Tribe Called Kotori, Happy Camper and The Gardens of Babylon.

La Llama's 'Vocal Mix' opens the release with its flowing conga rhythms, pulsating pads and sensual Spanish vocal sample. Next up is the 'Still Burning' version that raises the tempo and draws focus to the synths, while the percussion provides a framework that drives the track. There is also a 'Still Burning Dub' that swaps the vocals for more percussion.

Super Flu's remix adds their own melody synth and they switch up the groove with their own percussive rhythms to transform the track into a quirky and funky slice of melodic house.

Sasha Carassi's rework transforms the original into melodic house/techno with a dubby pad loop and spine-chilling synths that give the track an epic atmosphere. He also lifts the tempo and uses sections of the original's vocal to create building tension and mesmerising suspense.

Vander's remix stays true to the original keeping its main percussive loop and rhythmic synth stabs, but he restructures things to create an immersive indie dance groove that changes the vibe of the original.

The direction is clear from the start, deeply shaking the dance floor with a sound design, so vivid you can lick it. “Rigor” was a highlight of the latest B2B shows with Âme Live and I remember things going wild in the basement during ADE, then surprisingly the storm stops and cracks of smooth piano paths flood the room, just before the beast goes on. The artwork tackles the track as a visual interpretation. Self-portraits are created to evoke the mood of the tune, serving as a foundation for further flashing elements crafted in collaboration with Joao Castro’s - The Royal Studio. To be continued ….

Premiere: Anass Recreation - How Do You Really Feel (Gespona Remix) [Sanctuary Music]

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.
