Intro: Visual artist and designer Quentin Vercetty hopes to one day do what Patricia Cano has been doing throughout her career.  He wants to travel around the world and inspire people, especially young people with his art.  And his art takes many forms.  He calls himself "Vercetty" for a reason.  It's not only his name that conjures up poetry, he also creates a poetic mood through his paintings, his video, his art, his design, and of course, through the spoken word.  He needs all of those mediums to tell his story.  He's only 21, but he's been on a journey worthy of a full autobiography.  It would've been easy for Quentin to slide into a lifestyle that pays a whole lot more than art, but that kind of lifestyle comes at considerably more risk.  But Quentin made a choice, and that choice is at the centre of his story.  This weekend he plans on telling that story at a multidisciplinary art show called Diasporic Journeys.  Big City, Small World Contributor Janette Luu met up with Quentin Vercetty earlier this week.

Representing the Tdot with a grown up Hip-Hop swagger, Karma has collaborated with some of Toronto’s most talented artist’s for his upcoming “Place We Live” EP. Not satisfied with just being an artist, Karma launched NorthSoul Entertainment to not only profile his talent, but to raise the profile of other artist’s in the city, and showcase Toronto’s talent to the world. Expect big things to come.
