Incorporating the sort of measured and musical music you can fully expect from a room that will also feature sets from the music man, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Exit boss, dBridge and Manchester prodigy, Chimpo, LSB's mix builds slowly, layering tracks that really maintain an awareness and a sense of space.

When was the last time you listened to an actual ‘mixtape’? You probably think of one of the many mixes inhabiting our digital social spheres, which you might give a quick click or a fast listen. Dutch Drum and Bass connoisseurs Lenzman & Dan Stezo go back in time with the launch of their ‘Soul Tape’, an actual 60 minute cassette tape meant for the discerning Drum and Bass lover.

The Soul Tape is a limited give-away. The hand-crafted package comes in a hard-cover box, with additional T-shirt and a variety of stickers - all with custom artwork by Team Blazin'. Besides that The Soul Tape is a ‘cool’ and fresh (but hyper-traditional) take on the mix-format, it stems from Lenzman and Dan Stezo's 90s ritual of making Hiphop tapes for each other in school.

The Soul Tape exhibits tracks from the world’s finest Drum and Bass artists, blended by Lenzman with Dan Stezo’s narrative slang and distinct voice-over. As a combination they have worked together since 2003, and recently increased their collaborative spirit both on stage and on record. 2014 saw their first release ‘Move & Focus’ together as a combination on the esteemed Metalheadz imprint as part of Lenzman's debut album 'Looking At The Stars.

Lenzman’s tremendous success in his genre and his tour the force around the world doesn't keep him from maintaining a close circle. Long time confidant Team Blazin' adds the artwork in the form of handwritten calligraphy which articulates the Hiphop aesthetics, the three artists’ connecting factor and their shared stylistic background.

The Soul Tape is not for sale, as it is an initiative out of love for the craft, the music and their heritage. The 50 limited edition tapes will be given away to fans over a period of time. As it's holiday season, starting with 10 units via a Facebook “Share to Win” competition. Head over to the Metalheadz Facebook page and you might win a copy of The Soul Tape.

“When we were kids growing up it was all about tapes. It was a time where music was hard to come by and albums were played from start to finish, over and over... Mucky Update is a Costa Rican duo who solely focus on music production. Their artist name perfectly defines their main intentions within their music. Updating the dubstep scene with mucky melting basslines and drumkits, storytelling of current technological developments which are constantly changing society into an Orwellian nightmare including sci-fi phenomena.

Their release's with Deep Medi ft Logan and Deep Dark and Dangerous in collaboration with the Don, Youngsta, was a true strong statement from Mucky Update to honor and enrich the dubstep culture all the way from classic dub to futuristic sound design.

Music can take you so many places. I once freestyled with C-Rayz Walz back in 2003 in a dark alley in Baltimore near the Ottobar. In September 2024, I performed at Sun & Bass alongside the DJ Strife at Ambra Day, San Teodoro, Sardinia - a global mecca of drum & bass. I’ve had the pleasure of emceeing and hosting for inimitable artists like LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Makoto, Zero T, Break, Calyx, Ray Keith, Nookie, Mampi Swift, Aphrodite, Klute, DJ SS, Fabio, Total Science, Audio, Teebee, Pola & Bryson, Flava D, Redeyes, S.P.Y, Ant TC1, Craze, Kasra, Mefjus, Halogenix, Bad Company UK, Digital, Matrix & Futurebound, Heist, Command Strange, Phibes, Spinscott, MC Fava, DJ Rap, Enei, Bladerunner, Robert Manos, Dieselboy, DJ Dara, AK1200, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, The Upbeats, Critical Impact, Sub Zero, Random Movement, Gremlinz, Rene LaVice, Prolix, Loadstar, Brookes Brothers, T.R.A.C, The Prototypes, Sinistarr, Quadrant, Taxman, Teddy Killerz, and so many more.  From cyphers, battles, and lab sessions to rinsing shows, I have repped with some of the sickest talent around the globe & have been honored to be part of one of the richest music scenes in the world right here in DC alongside so many amazing people!  I am a freestyle fanatic who is passionate about the art of emceeing, & all the subtleties and nuances that go along with it.   

I love the rush that accompanies the feeling of holding the mic, but having no idea of what I am going to say next.  When you are the conduit between the DJ and the crowd, the medium by which expression is felt and shared.  In those moments you are able to influence the crowd + what people may think or feel, the night, and the direction it will follow.  Ultimately, that memory will be yours to keep forever.  I have been freestyling, writing music, and emceeing for over 22 years now with no plans to change.  My goal is to share a piece of who I am every time I perform for those who listen.  I emcee simply because I love it.
