This is a composition that I've made for Orchestration class in my 5th semester at Sjuman School of Music's Extension Program. Originally, the main musical idea--which can be heard on the last part of the piece--was composed in 2012 as an Ear Training 3 class assignment: to write a tune using the 13th (interval) melody. That was where the title of the composition came from. Some of the instruments were recorded live: flute, violin, viola, cello, and contrabass; and the rests are MIDI instruments. So, here it is. 13th Avenue - Iwan Paul

Another composition that I made for my 5th semester assignment in Sjuman School of Music. This is a tribute to the Starks Family in the (HBO) TV series Game of Thrones after what they have been through until The Rain of Castamere (Red Wedding) episode.

Actually I was experimenting with symmetric scales to create a new composition, and then I came up with the first melody patterns using a whole-half scale in C. While I developed the composition, I was quite overwhelmed by the tragical story of Starks family in Game of Thrones, so it became a strong background as I wrote this composition. 

I have tried to record this with a string quartet, but apparently the composition is too hard to play well enough within the limited time and budget, thus the recording result was awful. So, this is the best version of the composition so far, using Sibelius MIDI audio.

Purple Angel - Pongky Manullang

My very first orchestral work composition. This was made as a final assignment for Music Traditional Class at Ponpin and submitted for Sayembara Komposisi Musik Baru Salihara 2011.

This is only the Sibelius Midi version, because I haven't got the chance to record this tune with real musicians. But I think this will do just fine to represent the whole composition :)

I used to be a self-taught rock guitarist playing in a lot of bands in high school and college. I graduated with Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring Anthropology from University of Indonesia. Afterward I had worked in some mass media and advertising companies, and just played music as side activity. 

Few years later, I became a freelance writer while doing a recording project of my friend, singer/songwriter Pongky Manullang, as his album producer. After the album was released in 2008, I decided to pursue a career in music and learned to play drums again--the very first instrument I had learned while I was in junior high. I took lessons from a few senior drummers before ended up learning to play jazz with Aksan Sjuman--one of the finest Indonesian drummer/musician. 

In 2011, I studied at Sjuman School of Music, majoring drums and composition, and graduated in 2014. I have played drums professionally in numerous bands and events, including regular gigs. I also play percussion with orchestra: drum set, timpani, glockenspiel, and some toys. Currently, I teach at Sjuman School of Music and Music Republicain, while working on some composition/arrangement jobs from time to time.
