the Kitchen Ballads project is a collaboration between Touki Delphine (Eckhardt And The House, Sheila And The Kit, Kopna Kopna) and soprano Bernadeta Astari (winner of the Dutch Classical Talent award). This party forms a tasteful chamber music orchestra with the help of electronical instruments, kitchen machines and simple cookware.

In the summer of 2003, Rik Elsgeest, Bo Koek and John van Oostrom from Touki Delphine graduated from conservatory. Ever since, this multimedia trio mixes high- and low brow art into eclectic and visual music-and theatre performances.

The Jakarta born Bernadeta Astari graduated cum laude from the Utrecht Conservatory in 2012. The soprano is praised for her warm, powerful voice, that is able to lift operas as well as chamber music to glorious heights.

Kitchen Ballads is a song-cycle for soprano and electronical music, beautiful 17th century ballads by Händel, Monteverdi, Purcell, Vivaldi en Ravel in a divergent musical environment. The songs are performed in a theatrical setting. Each song is supported by a living room act from the "Encyclopedia for the Modern Housewife", published in 1979, not entirely coincidentally the year of birth of the men of Touki Delphine.

Kitchen Ballads is performed at Operadagen Rotterdam 2018, Wonderfeel 2018 and 16, 17, 18 April 2019 at Roode Bioscoop Amsterdam.

This week’s International Tribe mix comes from Entity London.

Entity London is the London born imprint run by Shai Spooner. Aiming to champion the music they believe in and never compromise in any way, the imprint is truly London bred, taking strong influences from the UK. Recent releases have leaned towards old school Garage, House and Breakbeat influences. They host regular parties with the help of resident DJs Mulshaw and JJ Beteta.

Growing up in Africa and then moving to London, Shai developed as an MC on Pirate Radio during Grime's earliest days and these experiences have shaped the style of the label with the strong percussive timbres. With releases from the likes Alec Falconer, Lost Act, Henry Hyde, Fabe & Julian Alexander. and more, Entity's releases have been supported by the likes of Four Tet.

"This special mix is a blend of 2step, break step and UKG and explores a secret stash of rare records that I’ve been waiting for the right occasion to play. There’s also a load of new forthcoming music from the Entity family, and friends of the label, played for the first time here."

The fantastic EP by Club Bizarre is closed by the remix of “Music Machine” by Lithuanian producer and Vilnius’ Opium club booker V. A veteran of Lithuanian electronic music scene, V (real name Vidmantas Čepkauskas) muscles up the original and his years as a DJ can be felt throughout his remix, the tension / release and build are guaranteed to fill the floor.

Is humanity on the verge of colonizing space? Are we going to settle on the moon, on Mars or even further away? In the six-part Dutch TV documentary series De Wilde Ruimte, science journalist Anna Gimbrère explores our future in space and takes us on a journey of discovery into the world of space travel. 'De Wilde Ruimte', Dutch for 'The Wild Space', like the conquering of 'The Wild West', is symbolic for mankinds irresistible urge to expand.

The music for this TV series is made by Rik Elstgeest, Gerry Arling and Baz Mattie, band members from Eckhardt And The House. The album is a blend of instrumental electronic chill-out music in the style of bands like Air and Zero 7, with the exception of the track 'Billie', which is a pop-folk tune giving off an atmosphere of early settlers on their travels.

De Wilde Ruimte TV Series - Wild Space

The original I’m Wild, Oh I See was part of REPVII released in 2017. Remixed by Id!r and Theus Mago. They gave the track a more dancefloor orientated feel. The two Remixers met and became friends back in 2014 in Paris. This is a swift and thunderous collaboration between the two, made in Theus studio in Mexico City. Theus Mago is the alter ego of Mexican producer Mateo González.
