Born Eric Sommers in 1984 in a rural community called "Bellevue" in the hilly areas of Portland, Iyara always had a love for music.

With his major influences being Bounty Killer & Sizzla accompanied with his lyrical prowess and talent, it was just a matter of time before he embarked on a full career as a Dancehall DJ.

After moving to Kingston, Iyara started to realize his dreams when he first voiced a single called " Musical Warfare" on the Fully Thugs Label and was produced by Dutty Coolie. After doing that song he did a serious of performances at Colleges, Stage Shows and even doing a tour in Costa Rica. Getting this buzz it was only a matter of time before a fellow artiste called "Advance" (who is coincidentally the nephew of Bounty Killer) realized his talent and decided to introduce Iyara to his mentor Bounty Killer.

After being introduced to the Alliance's General, Iyara was welcomed and signed as a part of Jamaica's leading Dancehall group "The Alliance" !!

Notably Iyara lost a true friend who had hoped to share along the dream of being an accomplished DJ. "Blue Chips" was a member of their "Fully Thugs" group killed unfortunately. Instead of this de-motivating Iyara, it did the opposite. His death has motivated Iyara in such a way that he is now on the verge of being the "next" artiste to break big in Jamaica!

He has performed at Sting, Fully Loaded, Spectrum and many other high profile events and he's getting heavy rotation in the dancehall and on radio stations both locally and internationally.

His latest projects includes a number of mix CDs including "Bad mi Bad" and singles for 2010 and beyond!!

Iyara now under the Management of Rescue productions will definitely be heading to bigger and better things and will surely be a force to reckon with for 2011 and beyond..
