IYEARA present a post globalisation dystopia in a coat of analogue electronica and hacked widescreen visuals. The London based trio is formed of The Duke Spirit guitarist Toby Butler, producer Malcolm Carson and vocalist Paul O’Keeffe.

Summer 2019 will see the release of their debut EP 'CONSEQUENCES' which includes three original pieces, 'Exhale', 'Silver & Gold' and 'Human' and a cover of the Tears for Fears hit 'Shout' featuring Liela Moss that will drop on 2nd August 2019.

Paul explains: “I remember hearing ‘Shout’ when I was young and I think it was the first song to show me the simple power of a lyric. Up until then my musical world was about happiness, love, sex, loss. But here was a song based in protest, urging me to get involved, break free of the sheep, see things from a different angle and add some colour. It’s a political song. Tears for Fears we’re an important band for me, the first really that showed me a different path through lyrics and music that were not just about chart pop. ‘Shout’ couldn’t be more relevant today, HONG KONG, VENEZUELA, LONDON, PARIS and the whole world ready to SHOUT for democracy and Climate.”

‘Shout’ is released on 2nd August 2019 via TrES-2b Recordings / INgrooves

A plethora of remixes and early single drops have led to some serious plaudits from Clash and The Line of Best Fit to name but a couple. Throughout last year, the group lent their hands to track remixes for the likes of Laura Marling’s LUMP project, The Boxer Rebellion, Simon Raymonde’s Lost Horizons, Paris Youth Foundation, The Ting Tings, Lusts and Liela Moss. IYEARA’s gift for reincarnating such tracks didn’t go unnoticed and the trio were shortlisted for this year’s MPG Awards in the ‘Remixer of the Year’ category, alongside Matthew Herbert and Shura. Further reinterpretations of tracks by The Prodigy, Mark Lanegan and UNKLE are set to be revealed very soon.
