I began my love affair with dance music at an early age.  As a child I remember being intrigued by the rave scene as it exploded in the early 90’s – watching with envy and always wishing I had been born a few years earlier.  Even at school I was captivated with music, spending endless break and dinner times in the music room, soaking it all in. Hitting my mid teenage years, I discovered the bars and clubs of my local town and used to head on down with £5 in my pocket to dance all night to house and speed garage.  I was underage, but I never drank.  It was all about the music. £5 sorted my bus fair, one drink and my taxi home.  

Then along came trance and hard house…..I’ve often said that trance is my soul, and it’s hard house that courses through my veins. Probably sums it up about right. 

 I cut my trance teeth on the dance floors of Gatecrasher and Passion circa 1999-2000 and it was a life changing year for me. A magical moment in time.  As the hard house scene exploded around the same time, I found my obsession blossomed.  Purchasing a set of decks at age 18, I waxed pretty much all my income on either vinyl or nights out.  Now as an allegedly mature adult, I still get kicks from frequenting the odd (ahem) event, whether that’s in the UK, or further afield in Ibiza or The Netherlands, but I get my real inspiration from writing about EDM. Trance and hard dance are still at the fore for me, but I genuinely do love all genres.  My enduring and eclectic tastes mean I can listen with an experienced ear, and offer up a balanced opinion.
