This a remix off of Christon Gray's old album "Body Art." EWEWU stands for Even With Evil With Us. This song is about how we may try to be good people and generally we can make some effort at being what is considered "morally good;" When we face Jesus and the cross we recognize our brokenness and need. It's out of our brokenness that God calls us to him and we become His sons & daughters.

Like my EWUWU track I have had this song written for a long time and I've performed it at many different places but never recorded it. This is  a remix to KB's 2012 Weight & Glory song. For me this song means looking at the world around us and feeling the weight of the problems we deal with. Then trusting in God to help us address those problems and when we let him shine through us through our own trials & tribulations he gets the glory!

The greatest miracle I ever saw was God taking my hard heart and making it new! He did that for me and he can do that for you. My good friend Elijah is featured on this and a local producer mixed, mastered and handled the recording.

Feast for Kings

At a young age Iziah Dawn's mom gave birth to him and took the responsibility of raising him. With his father in and out of his life at such a young age Iziah knew little of him and at 4 years old did not see or hear from him. Born in Kent, Washington Iziah and his mom later moved near Mariner High School in South Everett where his mom had his brother.

 

Raised in Mill Creek Foursqaure church Iziah was born into a lifestyle of serving God in the building but living worldly outside of it. When he turned 11 his mother married to his step-dad and things started to change in big ways for this family. Iziah’s new dad was a man of God and rules and ways about the house begin to shift. He saw his mother act differently and bring home the things she was learning in church. Caught in the clash of having a new step father and beginning to walk a Christian lifestyle Iziah wasn’t sure what he wanted and begin to rebel.

 

One night encouraged by his little brother’s father finding him, Iziah looked up his dad on Facebook. Scared to click “add friend” he waited a day before making this decision he had thought out many times before and been prepared for by his step dad. The day after adding his dad he received a message and a relationship began to heal. As he grew to know his father he learned about his family and its past. His dad being a locally known Seattle rapper and having a home studio began to get Iziah interested in music. Thus began Iziah’s dabble into something new he had never known. Only writing poems before he began to build up courage to make music and share it. In his first year he went by the name of Deelite given to him from his dad’s family and was driven by rebellious motives drawing away from his mother and step-father. Becoming more involved in his new found joy Iziah’s friends encouraged him to keep going and he grew influentially and musically.

 

When Iziah turned 18 he had a big decision to make; Jesus or not. Falling into a careless lifestyle, sitting in Oregon with his friends he got a call from his youth pastor. His pastor encouraged him to be apart of year long internship. A year of servanthood and a chance to focus on God. Two roads were offered in his eyes; a life after Jesus or a continual life down the road he hated to admit was painful and depressing. Either way it was all or nothing and he knew this.

 

A year later 19 years old and passionate for God Iziah learned what its like to be in relationship with Jesus and is taking steps towards being a pastor. He saw a growth not only in his walk but in his music. Changing his last name to Dawn was a decision he made after lots of prayer and a blessing from his step dad. He knew it was important to him and changed his last name to Dawn to take on the inheritance of his fathers name. Residing in Mill Creek, Washington Iziah continues to learn from his mentors and influences around him as he strives to be a young man in pursuit of Jesus. He hopes to bring hope to people through his music and encourage other Christians to give everything to Jesus…The Good Life.
