he intro gives me a warm tickle up......When you play this live with your awesome band, you just have to do it the same. I can hear a playfulness, quirkyness, like you are using helium filled instruments..... and I absolutely love it. The production is incredible and the arrangement just blows me away.  I have always liked this song live but as a record you guys have taken it up several levels to somewhere I could have never envisaged. You have to be chuffing chuffed with how its turned out, nailed it!

This song is written in a classic singer-songwriter style and shares honest reflections on life today.  Between the Worlds is a contemplative track from the perspective of someone looking back, assessing what’s been but also looking forwards, trying to make sense of what’s still to come.

Between the Worlds was written in June 2024 while I was on tour around Germany, and recorded in collaboration with musician and producer, Tobias Thiele, at his studio, Blue Lizard Studio, in Funkenhagen (Germany), in July 2024.

Dear Reader, 

What is existence? Who made time? Is there a governing force? These are questions that cannot be answered with any certainty. Humankind has spent thousands of years creating stories to answer these questions and there are as many answers as there are cultures. 

When something good happens, there is a tendency for some to thank a deity. But what about when something bad happens? Some will say that this event was the deity's doing too, and that it is all part of some grand plan. 

I prefer not to twist myself into a pretzel attempting to apply logic to what are leaps of faith. And so, I follow science as it attempts to get closer to truth. In this song, I apply—in a whimsical way—a religious trope (Say Amen) to what is my secular belief. I encourage all to follow their own beliefs, whether sacred or secular. I cast no aspersions no matter what your beliefs, so long as those beliefs do not impinge upon the beliefs and freedoms of others. 

My special thanks to Audric Jankauskas for joining me on this song. His immense talent as a guitarist may be known to those of you who have heard him play on several of my other songs, but you should also know of his great musicianship, arranging and compositional skills. Audric added those beautiful angular lines toward the end of the song, which I think are so cool. 

This has been a great summer for me. I've had the opportunity to collaborate with at least 12 other musicians—talented players and singers from all around the globe. The autumn approaches, but the music will continue—I still have much more music that I am eager to release.

Well, technically, this should be titled "Half-prelude in C Major, Interlude in G Major and Prelude (again) in C Major", but never mind that, I had fun making this little tribute to one of the old masters. See (or listen) if you can recognize the melodies in the middle :)

EDIT: It has come to my attention that the Minuet in G Major, included in the middle part, was (not so) recently found to be actually composed by Christian Petzold (1677-1733), not Bach. So, this is a tribute to him too, I guess.

Live, Izzie’s recently opened for artists like This Is The Kit, Jesca Hoop, Matt Deighton, The Brother Brothers (USA), Beans on Toast, played festivals like The Great Escape and Black Deer. Outside of her own music she’s sung on recent releases from Tom Jones and Freddie and The Scenarios (The Vaccines.)
