Seán R. McLaughlin returns with this glorious folk-tinged indie-rock family affair - the track features award winning singer-songwriter, Lewis McLaughlin (Seán’s cousin) and is produced/mixed by their shared cousin, Andy Monaghan (Frightened Rabbit).

Wishing Well deals with the desire to disappear in a time when our lives are increasingly lived and captured online. McLaughlin sings:

…I’m wishing that I could roll my car in the sea
Throw the television off the end of the quay 
And delete all the data they collected on me
My birth, my death, and my family tree

Of the song, Seán R. McLaughlin states:

“…it started as a character song about this person who just wants to disappear, but knows it’s almost impossible these days…finding the constant sense of being observed, and the daily data capture that takes place in most of our lives, a bit overwhelming and unhealthy…

…I loved working with my cousins on this one, and the viola I played in the choruses was rescued from my grandfather’s fireplace. He was a luthier and was so unhappy with it, he tried to burn it. I saved it. It’s one of the best instruments I own and I’m so attached to it now. ”

The track comes ahead of the eagerly awaited full album, Goodnight Lad, due for release on 3rd May 2024. The record is available for pre-order in limited edition transparent blue vinyl and CD from the Wind-Up Crows Bandcamp.
