"The fledgling Deeppa label is back with a seventh sublime sound, this time from Eloi who brings plenty of fresh ideas and creative sound designs to four tasteful cuts. 'You'll Keep Going' is a lush late-night fusion of noodling basslines and jazzy chords with soulful vocals and 'Karma' then gets even more horizontal in balmy chords and lazy grooves. There is a little more bite to 'Manage Your Temper' but it is still a super cuddly house sound. On the flip, 'Mental Game' offers hazy late-night reveries and 'Confusion' is a swirling mix of warm and soulful house. 'A Few More Breaks Should Do The Trick' is a jazzy and zoned-out closer. What an EP."

This superb offering from the mighty label Quintessentials, sees Glaswegian producer OOFT! (Ali Herron) mix the aptly titled track ‘Freak-E Groove (Proto House Mix)’. This chic 80’s disco moment of synthy splendour is a party piece - a fabulously fitting way to dance into the labels 10th year releasing bangers from artist all over the globe.

O0FT! expertly layers his music, with the use of echoing husky vocals breathing in at opportune times, sounding trim and crisp. Exploring the avenues of disco music, he places claps and high hats perfectly across the page whilst keeping the cowbells going along with the classy groove. The distorted sirens that build and form out of a curved synthy line subtly emerge creating a trippy mirage of sound as you move through the melody - bringing together an artist and label who understand and deliver raw deep house music every time!

Speaking volumes through it’s use of space, silence and texture, the A side is as deep as they come. Simultaneously dark and beautiful, subtle yet grand, ‘A’ is an exquisite seven minute journey crafted with the early hours in mind. Rather than exciting through rises and drops or tricks in arrangement, ’A’ blooms like a flower, patiently unveiling a palette of meticulous sound design and gorgeous texture. As it treads a fine line between meditation and club functionality, ‘A’ charms and captivates.



As pads ebb and flow, a seemingly simple loop takes on a deeper meaning, each hit of a rimshot more satisfying than the one before it. Every element occupies a space of it’s own, and not a single sound is squandered. When a single hi-hat arrives, bringing with it momentum and drive, and arpeggios unfurl in a glistening banquet of sound, ‘A’ becomes truly epic. A beautiful exercise in restraint and subtlety, ‘A’ is one to move every body and touch every soul on the dance floor.

Nebraska comes in with a bang for his third release on Heist after 'Soften the Wireless' EP in 2016 and 'Metaphor to the floor' in 2017. It's hard to believe it has been 3 years since his last appearance on Heist, but with 'Y'miss me baby?', Nebraska takes back center stage with another release full of disco flavored electronics.
