A track Jim and me recorded short after our disastrous trip to Los Angeles in December 1986. Been there to see a show of Skinny Puppy at the Roxy. Everything was fine, 'til Jim decided for himself to drink like a fish.

I categorized this as synthpop, just  'cause designation of a genre seems to be mandatory for uploading audio. I wouldn't label our music from those days as minimal-wave or minimal-synth, as we used MIDI.

Jim Dumproff - Monochrome ('86)

A track Jim and me recorded in 1986.  He was in extremely bad mood the day and wrote the lyrics during the session.

Jim Dumproff - Knowing Smile ('86)

As far as I remember, this was the first track Jim and me recorded after his return from South America in 1986. Equipment we used were the Kawai SX-210, the Akai AX-73 and our beloved SCI-Drumtraks. The Kawai SX-210 and SX-240 models offered portamento and glissando and were kinda underrated synths, I believe.

Jim Dumproff - Cura Posterior ('86)

I tagged this 'messing around' - guess this describes best what we were doing. Maybe You know that feeling 'oh, we are so motivated, wanna record a track today' but no concept at all. So Jim came up using those cheap Casio sounds and beat. See this as example of two mentally deranged idiots, both charmed and disgusted by the magic of Reagan created madness of the late 80s all around them. The main point was that we had lotsa fun. A day in the studio I will forever remember with tears of laughter in my eyes.

Jim Dumproff - I.C.B.M. ('86)

This is a track I haven't been actively involved. I believe it's been recorded by Jim in early 1987 as he agreed to play the house-sitter whilst I spent two weeks in Nova Scotia visiting relatives. Unlikely he managed not to damage anything or maybe I should say I couldn't find any evidence.
Jim did not title this short synth instrumental so I decided to name it 'scolopendra'. Jim was fascinated by such creatures (centipedes, millipedes, spiders, ...) but especially centipedes. Reminds me of the W.S. Burroughs quote 'There may be people who like centipedes...'  *eg*

Jim Dumproff - Scolopendra

'Hot Seat' - Damn, how Jim hated this TV-show hosted by Wally George. Anyway he couldn't resist the fascination watching it. Especially the audience and the host gave him reason for uncontrolled rant. His lamentations often amused me. One day we visited an electronics store as Jim wanted to buy a new TV-set. The clerk nearly fell off the floor as Jim asked him if the remote had a 'gas-them-button', followed by explanation for what reason he needed such a feature. Raw Jim humour.

Jim Dumproff - Sedition ('87)

I tagged this as darkwave. Dont' know if this is correct, as it starts sinister and changes rapidly at ~ 1 minute to something slow but danceable, without loosing its dark touch. I personally love Jim's lyrics on this one. The Akai AX-80 has been extensively used for the sounds. Furthermore it was the only track we ever used a Commodore 64 sound on.

Jim Dumproff - Harmony Of Dissonance ('87)

Jim Dumproff : Synthesizer artist from the San Francisco area. Active during the 1980s. Died at age 37 in 1992. His musical work can be divided into two phases:

- 1982-85: Evil Force demo tape - a compilation of home-recorded synthesizer instrumentals. Mostly monotonous and minimalistic. A few tracks show aggressive potential.

- 1986 - 87: Jim Dumproff (vocals, lyrics, synths) in collaboration with Ben Ackley (synths, programming, recording).
