The latest tribute mix (which FYI has gone through a number of mixes due to judging raised eye brows watching over me) to the late, great Clinton Smiley PKA Jason Harding is another  journey into Jase's very fine and eclectic music tastes 
This mix is especially dedicated to his lovely and warm Family and multitude of Friends and fans.

I first met Jase sometime around 1990 up at Radio Active when it was located on the Vic Uni campus and I told him I was a big fan of his shows and writing, I remember getting a nochalant thanks response and he walked into the PD's office...but soon we were seeing each other all over the city (cafes, record stores etc) and he always had a "Hey Jase/Jaz" greeting when he saw me, I found Smiley to super stylish, a highly clever and highly influential DJ and taste maker and I always highlighted or made wish lists from the records he reviewed in RAD and Scope magazines etc

I also found him sarky, witty and funny and often chuckled at his anecdotes on air
and if memory serves me correctly, Jase once filled in for 'The Weds Nite Jam' briefly while I was praying to the porcelain bowl after a staff meeting (don't ask haha)

Not long after that incident a bottle of whiskey mysteriously showed up on the table near the Active studios (not a hundred percent certain) but I have always felt that possibly Jase left it there as he would often be at the Active offices.

Jason, Thank you for your time here and for sharing your incredible gift, I can only hope that the Upper Room has plenty of Stussy gear, Adidas caps, good beer, choccy milkshakes, darts for Africa, expensive turntables, a booming P.A. and a music library the size of Carl Cox's haha...love you Jase and until we meet again and you can remind me that I sold 'enter DJ's name here' my effing 12!!!"...do trash rolls lol and raid my Dad's wardrobe for pants and shirts (it was ONE shirt bro)...but ummm a bit rude that was said when you got first dibs on the fresh imports at the back of Flipside though...I'll let it slide haha.

Lastly, I was so incredibly touched to hear that some of my mixes were being played in his final days.
