Front woman Jessa Graves will make you remember, reminisce, and long with powerfully raw yet vulnerable vocals.

"Lo the Mourning," the lead single from J. Graves' forthcoming fall 2020 sophomore release 'Deathbed', is dripping with lament, dance beats, and one hell of a breakdown. Graves wrote the ‘Deathbed’ EP while releasing the band's debut LP, ‘Marathon,’ in the spring of 2019. She writes, "This is ambivalence. This is me wanting more, realizing I'm not going to get it, and what I've lost in the process. This is me admitting that things weren't ever going to be the same. This is me giving up."

Lo the Mourning

"Time Travel", the second single from the forthcoming 'Deathbed' EP, resides at the juxtaposition of what you want, what you have, and what you will never have again. The beginning of the song opens with a vulnerable confession, played on Graves' mother's classical guitar. The song and sentiment explodes with resentment, "...you are the boss, and I never win, and you know, you're just my type". 

The songs "Time Travel" and "Deathbed" will release consecutively with two cyclical music videos that can be started in any order and will loop infinitely. This is a symbol of the cycles we experience in life, relationships, and with our own self-discovery. 

As with all the songs on 'Deathbed', Graves wrote "Time Travel" while releasing her debut LP, 'Marathon', and while her relationship was crumbling around her. It's coming closer, an arcane cry from your darkest past. "You can't say my name out loud." The final track to release from J. Graves' 'Deathbed' EP is one rooted in mystery, toxicity, addiction admission, and why some things are better left for dead. During a sweet moment of reprieve, Graves writes, "I am a fool for you, I don't know what you do". And as we relive this tense battle, the back and forth, the pleas for help and mercy, and a promise of "never again", we come to find that significant love and loss will remain just that and outlive us all.  "I can't believe you could be the weight of my world." 

Named for the voice memo number Graves' phone assigned to the rudimentary recording, "331" punctuates the 'Deathbed' EP due out October 10/2/20 on Illumin Records. Only 19 copies of this EP will be cut by hand to vinyl with only 10 copies for sale.
