Pseudosimian and I had so much fun during this final set of 2022 with live sax by Sojourner and vocal by Trice Be. The live element always adds such a robust flavor to the environment which is hard to recreate when listening back. But i loved this night so much and the energy leading up to the end of the year that I couldn't not post it :) The set starts with a half hour of myself then the next by Pseudosimian, from there it's a quadfectca of family love! 

To finish out the night we had my friend Adrian aka Magician On Duty as our special guest to close out the evening <3 Much love to MOD for coming a day early out toVegas to groove with us! This was his 3rd Subtle Sol performance, and certainly not his last ;)

FREQUENCY UNDERGROUND INTERVIEW WITH BASSARID:

◾ Real Name: Greg Cordo

◾ Current City: Charlotte, NC

◾ DJ Collective: ChEM Lab

◾ How did you come up with your DJ name: I came across the name while reading about Greek mythology. The Bassarids were the most significant members of the Thiasus, the ecstatic retinue of Dionysus. These sacred revelers were also known as Maenads, or "raving ones." Their name derives from the god's penchant to wear a bassaris, or fox pelt, while performing esoteric rituals.

◾ How and when did you get into DJing: I first began running music and lights for private parties in 2010, mainly open format stuff. After moving down to Charlotte (I'm originally from New England), I was adopted by a group of old school ravers and DJs who brought me to my first Burning Man event, Transformus, where I instantly became hooked on the underground sound.

◾ Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Be Svendsen, Jethro Tull, The Chemical Brothers, King Crimson, Tycho, Incubus, Hans Zimmer, The Faint, Mt Eden, The Prodigy, Rusko, among so many others. I'm inspired by the beauty of nature, the creativity of others, and the various emotions of everyday life.

◾ Describe your sound as a DJ: Deep, worldly, funky, hypnotic, psychedelic, eclectic.

◾ What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: I've got a few irons in the fire at the moment. Now that the pandemic restrictions are easing, I'm working with the ChEM Lab crew on throwing some parties in Charlotte this year. Doing some studio work for my solo project, Bassarid, as well as for Dumb Thickity, the new multi-genre booty music duo I've formed with Tristan Remington a.k.a. Dark Adaptation. We just had our debut at Love Burn in Miami this past February. My partner and I are finally going to inaugurate our lounge camp, Sultans of Squish, at the Ignite! Burn in Virginia next month. We started planning and acquiring infrastructure for it about 3 years ago. I've compiled almost 72 hours of deep, sensual, worldly, trippy music to make sure the vibe is always right. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for a Sultans of Squish teaser mix!

Live from the chocolate factory Vol 2

The set for my final show at La Mezcalaria in Mazunte, Mexico. These shows become iconic for me and many others in the town, and will always hold a special place in my heart. The smiles, the screams, the live drumming, the pole dancing, the policeman busting a move...the energy was uncontainable and really was such a beautiful chaos that I will never forget.
