The largest amount of gratitude from Marmalade to Stricknice for his craftsmanship and camaraderie! I applaud you for the miraculous work you did arranging and manipulating this brilliant painting of sound. The reason I had so much faith in sending you an abnormal sample collection was I believe Stricknice is a master at making bizarre waveforms sound beautiful. His music transcends, skyrocketing your senses with its extreme shifts and organic-electric-space-jazz-style. I'm truly honored to have been apart of this collaboration. The long hours put into this track paid off and it takes a patient genius to get through that. Thanks Strickice!

The idea for this song came to me randomly while driving down some backroad a few years back, and I recorded the initial idea spur of the moment. For whatever reason, the rather morbid theme came out in the process and I just went with it. Nat is a daring soul and surprisingly encouraged that we record it and with her considerable help we fashioned this recording. Notable is that Nat has taken on the ability to add some beautiful pedal steel guitar throughout the song using her well established keyboard skills and this first run at it was very satisfying. Let us know what you think!

This tune is another variation of an old original piano melody that's gone through several drastic 'evolutions', appearing in a number of my other songs. In this version I'm playing a harp sound on the keyboard run through an arpeggiator. sounds very Enya-esque.

Explanation: Why is there a huge eye in the sky? Diamond dust. That is an informal term for small ice crystals that form in the air and flitter to the ground. Because these crystals are geometrically shaped, they can together reflect light from the Sun or Moon to your eyes in a systematic way, causing huge halos and unusual arcs to appear. And sometimes, together the result can seem like a giant eye looking right back at you. In the featured image taken in the Ore Mountains of the Czech Republic last week, a bright Moon rising through ice fog-filled air resulted in many of these magnificent sky illusions to be visible simultaneously. Besides Moon dogs, tangent arcs, halos, and what's called a 'a parselenic circle', light pillars above distant lights are visible on the far left, while Jupiter and Mars can be found just inside the bottom of the 22-degree halo. "

Beyond Belief *  Anomon & Elliot

I don’t usually write too much in this space, but this time I had to tell the tale of this track, and working with Marmalade.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Marmalade’s cosmic, wicked style, so when he hit me up for a collaboration I almost did a James Brown split and spilled my coffee. Of course I said yes. The samples he sent over floored me, and I ran with them, sometimes caught up in them deep into the night. I experimented with what he’d sent, working and reworking the samples, and ended up with some interesting mutations based on loose ideas, and basically about a hundred versions of what it all meant. Sometimes what came out was scary, sometimes funny, sometimes tragic and yet funky. I was digging what was happening, but I felt like I couldn’t get an aerial view of the whole thing, and I got bogged down by tunnel vision. I started to feel insecure about the track, that it was too insane or wasn’t going to be up to the standards that I’d set for myself for this collaboration with an artist I admired so much. I put the track down for a while, months in fact. The other day I stumbled across the track again, which I’d tentatively labeled “Why you do this to me, Demi?”, echoing the sentiment of Damien’s mother in The Exorcist. I guess at the time it had felt like all the twists, turns and dead ends were torturing me, and trying to pull the right thing out it all had started to feel like an exorcism. The version I’d found was one of the jazzier ones, and only one of the multitude of attempts I’d made for this track. Listening to it again after all this time let me hear it with fresh ears, and I could see what I’d done in a whole new light. The time away from the track, while certainly too long, had done me good and I was able to hear it without zeroing in and focusing on what I’d thought were faulty details. Feeling better about the whole thing but still apprehensive as to what Marmalade would make of it, I bounced the track back to him and waited, worrying that the reply would simply be, “This shit sucks, Stricknice.” The response I got from him was the exact opposite. He loved it, and with that my last insecurity vanished. So here you go, ladies and gents, the final track, which I’ve retitled here because I have finally beat all those demons that were after me. Maybe next time I’ll be a little better on the front end about keeping the faith and finding the groove.
