Week 42 (November 16, 2013)

I've been working my way through all of the artists from Elephant 6 Collective (best known for Neutral Milk Hotel) in the past few weeks. This is the amazing final song of one of the weirdest albums I've listened to in a long time. I scaled it back a bit, but it's still a pretty cool song.

Week 46 (December 14, 2013)

I realized that this is my last cover week before Christmas, and I decided I couldn't miss the chance to do a Christmas song. This is less of a cover and more of an... interpretation of the original version, which you should really listen to. I went with a pretty lo-fi feel here in homage to a band featuring a TV and a giant metronome and a chorus of singing saws who recorded their first album on a wax cylinder recorder. 

So merry christmas, everyone!

I can't believe this is the last original week of this whole project. I'm really proud to have gotten this far, and keep on the lookout for one last cover next week and a cumulative album within the next week or two!

Finally Done Listening

Week. 52. (January 25, 2014)

I honestly never thought that I would make it to 52 without missing a week, but I did. So I guess this is a wrap. 26 covers and 26 originals finished in the span of a year.

Ending on a high note, I think; this is probably the most ambitious I've been with a cover (six and a half minutes long, three separate vocal tracks, etc.), and I thought it was a fitting one to end on.

This song is the opposite of my last original, in that it started with lyrics and then lost them. Because I didn't opt for singing, I decided to have some fun with the trumpet instead.
